Howdy,

I've taken the plunge and ordered 500 of these from Vistaprint in a glossy format. The white border isn't there on the real version, its just a frame that VP put on all their pics for some reason, it's actually black.

Can anyone vouch for the quality of Vistaprint stuff? Ive never used them for my own ends and never seen their glossy production.

What do you think of the card btw?

Hey, Tez. My first thought is: if he's a pro shooter, why doesn't the card show photography (in the traditional sense)? Although I like the colors/image you have, it just doesn't say "Professional Photographer".

thanks for the reply.

what does it say to you?

well i was thinking about a 'traditional' photo on there, then didn't want to put a landscape on it because ppl would think 'landscape photography'. The same applied for wedding pics, portrait pics, flowers etc so i put something on there that is a photo and since my style veers towards the dark side i thought it was cool. but i see your point.

I toyed with the idea of making two sets- one like this and one a bit more 'normal' and I have another design in the works of nice normal things- it's all blue like.

The plan was ot make it eye catching enough so people would be intrigued enough to go to the website and then go from there- the website which is still under all kinds of development.

but thank you for your comment. I like hearing opinions from people no matter if good/bad.

Is font/layout alright do you think? I didnt want the cheesy bevel/emboss shadow crap.

Tez - How about a sweet image a man & woman holding hands, but just show the hands? One tip I learned early on.... if you love to photograph palm trees, do that in your free time, but don't put palm trees on your card unless your plant to sell TO palm trees (who don't have wallets). You want to sell photography to people, you need people on your card. Remember, your card doens't have to have just ONE image.... mine has 8 er.... 9!

point taken. People on a business card... interesting idea :D I'll go for that next time.

But a question about yours: why does only one picture have a white border?

Hell I don't know, 'cause it was already edited that way & I didn't think to remove it?? lol

I would worry about the size of the font that was used for the email address. On the printed card, it'll probably be smaller than what you see here on DPC. And that means it'll be hard to read ... especially by the old-timers (45 and up) with failing eye sight.

I think that was at 8pt font. Maybe 7.

My name is in 16... but you could have a very very good point there. Thanks for that. If it screws up then I have 500 unusable cards. Hurrah!

This is a business card I did up for myself a couple of months ago. I need to redo them though since I launched a new Website. I had these printed on 4X6's because the printing was free.

this is the front of my card.
this is the picture i used on the back of my card, it also says silver turtle studios and the phone number. i got glossy's from vistaprint, and i'm very happy with them. only thing is, since i have a full color card on both sides, the back wasn't glossy so didn't quite match, i didn't think of it..

Vistaprint is a great place for low budget quality items. I just got my business cards in the mail on Wednesday. The glossy is the way to go. You should be very happy with the quality.

I shoot mainly weddings, and I put my latest bride on my business cards. They love it and they do get passed around. I make up only about 25 -30 cards each wedding.

I just purchased my second set of business cards with Vista Print with the glossy finish and I'm very happy with them. So far everyone I've handed them out to have been impressed as well.
