I've dealt with Mpix several times and just recently placed an order for a 20x30 canvas print. Well, I received the print yesterday in their standard "built for combat" packaging. I checked the order and it was a nice 20x30 print (not on canvas). Well... I've been pleased with them so far so I fire off a polite e-mail through their "contact us" section explaining the situation. Within 3 minutes, I received a reply apologizing for the mistake and assurance that it would be reprinted and reshipped. Keep in mind that this was yesterday at 2:30 PM EST. Well, today at 9:00 AM EST, I received my 20x30 print on canvas. Talk about fast, courteous customer service!!! I have to say that alone will keep my business.

Just wanted to make a positive post for those who were on the fence about using their services.

Nice to hear good news regarding customer service for a change.

I'd be curious to know how Mpix compares to CanvasOnDemand. (that's probably a different thread though)

Or whcc. I used canvas on demand to get the free canvas for signing up, but I haven't used any of the other two. I have heard great things about both MPix and whcc, similar stories as in this case. Anybody used both MPix and whcc and could say which they like better and why?

I would be interested in comparisons also. So far I've only used Mpix and was thinking about trying out CanvasOnDemand, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Registering on a new site is such a PITA sometimes. ;-)

Just wanted to post my experience as I've also received great service from MPix's. I orders some 11x14's and they came taped to cardboard which I was a little unhappy about because the photo ripped when I took the tape off. However when I emailed and explained the problem they offered to send me another print at no cost even though it was technically my fault that it was damaged. I've done all my printing there ever since and have had no problems.

I have been meaning to send some of my photos to them to have them printed on canvas. I had been procrastinating because I wasn't sure how well they would come out. Sounds like from this thread it is worth checking into.

Any whcc experience out there?

Forgot to ask. Do you send them a jpg that has been cropped to the exact size you want or do you just send it as is and let them handle it? I am a novice at having my stuff printed up larger than an 8x10 so I was just curious.

Mpix is great.

Best thing to do is to not crop your images, at least the ones you plan to sell/print. Then when you know what size you need printed, crop yourself a copy to those dimensions and upload that. Mpix (as most sites) has an online cropping tool, but you are dealing with a tiny little thumbnail so any hope of being precise is dashed.

Thank you routerguy666. That is what I thought but I just wanted to double check since this is my first time out actually considering preparing some of my photos for print of any sort. Thank you for clarifying.

I signed up with WHCC and got their 5 free 8x10 test prints.
The test prints look GREAT (actually a bit better than the same prints through MPIX) and they shipped them overnight all for FREE.

I haven't had the chance to use them for a normal order yet, but I did call with questions and their phone support was top notch.

I plan on placing a small order tonight or tomorrow, so I'll know more in a day or two.

WHCC has always been great to work with. Quick to correct the rare mistake. I ordered two fine art canvases from them(unstretched) and thought they were superb.

I'm a WHCC guy too-- their gallery wraps are top notch. I also recently ordered a bunch of 4x5 proofs-- within 4 hours of submitting the order, their QC had routed the pics to an account exec because they felt the prints were too dark. They let me cancel the order (no charge), re-work the files and resubmit. On both submissions, the files were in production within half an hour of the upload. I've been thrilled with them.

I also had a wonderful experience with mpix. I got an 11x14 print made and the corner was a teeny bit damaged in shipping. I, too, used the contact us form on their website and had a response within 5 minutes that they would reship the print by the end of the day. I got it within 24 hours in pristine condition.

I HIGHLY recommend them for prints, although I haven't tried whcc yet - they're next.
