So i would like to make a softbox and I reckon i can figure out the framing with some wire or old hangers and a white sheet but is there any particular kind of light i should use?

Light Box? Here is a link for one I built and serves me well. I did not permanently glue the PVC pipe so that I can bend it flat for storage (my tip for making this).
Edit to say I just use very bright desk lamps through a white sheet.

How big do you want to make this thing and what are your plans for it?

I'd go about 3' x 4' for portrait work. Maybe 4' x 6' if you want to do full body.
You have to consider heat, so I'm thinking compact fluorescents. You can get daylight balanced bulbs, maybe about 8 of them in a 3x4 bank?

If you run a search, you should find the posts I made about building one. It fits Speedlights, and was made from a pop-up mesh tent that goes over picnic dishes, covered with two layers of fabric, with a diffusor panel in front.
