I've had that, or various crashes, etc. happen too. I started to make a habbit out of, if I write any kind of long post, or anything, I highlight and copy it before I hit 'post'. Then if I lose it, I can just go back and paste it in. |

On Windows hold down CTRL then press A then C to copy the whole lot to the clipboard.

When I am making long, detailed posts, I do them in Word and then copy/paste to DPC. Saves a lot of aggravation, and you have spell-check too :-) Plus that way I can go back months later and resurrect the content if I need it again for another thread.

You find some threads that are so redundant that you save canned responses??????
How can this possibly be??????

No, it's not that... Some themes are very cyclic, we keep coming back to them as newer members or non-forum readers post new threads on the same topics. And since I write a fair number of lengthy discourses on technical issues, I have those saved. I can go back and see what I said a year, or two years, ago, and add to it/expand on it/whatever. I don't always bother, sometimes I just freebase the same question over and over, BUT in an earlier incarnation where I administered a site with 35,000 members I got in the habit of doing it this way. Saved a lot of time back then.
And anyway the main point is if you work that way then you always have something down you can salvage even if the 'net farts on you before the post goes up.

Like hell I do... I'd be surprised if I post in more than 10-15% of threads, week in and week out. There are even longstanding threads I have never posted to and doubt I ever will. Believe it or not ;-)

A Bear in a Bar is not a Pretty Sight. I remember the last time I went in a bar, and the barkeep threw me out, accusing me of drug use. I said, what? No way! And he said "Yeah: that was a bar bitch you ate."
