For what it's worth, probably nothing, I've only asked for an opinion from another person once, and that was asking about the DPC viewpoint on my subject matter, not the quality of the photo. That being said, I think it's wrong to be collaborating on submissions - legal or not. If you want to collaborate, do it with images that are not entered into competition and apply your lessons learned to your submission. I personally don't think it's fair to be competing with groups of people in what should be an individual endeavor. But I see that's the direction this site is moving toward and that's also why I will not be rejoining when my time is up.

Gatorguy, your opinion is worth just as much as anyone else's. However, I do disagree with you. Part of the fun to me is getting to know other people and sharing ideas and opinions on shots. If you only want a pure, individual, no one but the photographer ever sees or discusses a contest entry Web site, I wish you luck. I wonder whether such a site exists.

After all, even without my DPL team, I regularly showed my images to friends and family. Do you not do that?

DPL was set up to prevent teams from voting on each other's pics, and our team has continued that ever since, simply by not voting on any pic we've discussed. That's why you'll see our comments during the challenge saying things like "(comment only, no vote)."

To be perfectly clear on one point, though: we shoot and edit our own shots. We give advice, like "brighten it" or "try this technique," but no one edits our entries. THAT would violate the rules and spirit of the challenges.

That's too bad. A lot of people do that you know. If you win, who wins? You, or the "team" of people who were making suggestions to give you a competitive advantage?

No, actually I don't

And that's great. It doesn't change the fact that the image is likely better because of the help of your team than it would have been without the team effort. That's what I think is wrong.

And if your competition was separate from the mainstream competitions, and where collaborative photography was the norm, I would have absolutely no problem with it. I think it's kind of like the Patriots bugging the competitions play calling - not fair.

Well, as I said, I wish you luck. I truly mean that, not in a sarcastic way. I hope you find what you're looking for.

My eyes only see what I want to see in my photos, and most of my problem is that I can't see how others see my work. It is a very difficult habit to develop and consumes time and help from others.

Hi Leo, Can you take my name off your list, since I left the group last October?

Didn't realise you were still doing this....

Thanks
Sarah

Just a friendly reminder to all that vote patterns are monitored for signs of vote swaying, "friend voting", etc.

All votes cast should be based solely on the quality of the image presented. Casting biased votes for (or against) any user is a serious violation of site rules. We understand that it can be difficult to vote objectively when you know the image was taken by a friend, mentor, "mentee" or collaboration partner. For this reason, we recommend that you skip voting on any image where you have been involved in discussion on that image.

Readers should note that this post is not in response to any problems, but rather a general reminder in light of the fact that the group membership is changing.

To new DPC members,

I think it's time to have new members for our little group. Here is what this group all about.

First of, DPC-OF is under surveillance by SCs. Any DPC-OF members could get messages from SC if unfair voting suspected between us.

We do have a meeting room in Yahoo Groups that only approved members can join. In there we do show our challenge entries before hand to get some opinions.

DPC-OF created only for those who don't have enough families and friends around to show their work. That might be frustrated since only our eyes judging our work. So, if you are in same situation, please PM me, I will send the necessary information and add you to our list here for SCs to see.

FP

PS: I would like to add another 5 to 10 people in our group this time. If there are some people leaving DPC-OF, I make more announcements to replace those members.

CALLING FOR RE-GROUP

Please send me message from our headquarters to see if we have enough people active. I am going to accept a few more DPCer and delete some from current ones that are not active for a long time.

Please understand that we as a group have limited members to keep things under control and keep it safe. All I need is to ask some opinions for some of the challenges I enter, and give my opinion to yours.

10 was the limit, I think we have around 5 active members right now.

Again, send me message from our head quarters to see if you are still watching DPC OFs (DPC Opinion Friends)

I'll sign up.

Leo, even though I am not at your level in photography âyetâ. I think I would like to be considered if there is a available place. Although my PP skills are limited, and I have not as of yet figured out the voter, and or what works on DPC, I can only offer little more than my personal opinion, for what that is worth.

LOL, besides as a past member of the DPL OOFers, your groups name seems to be calling me for some strange reason..

Another legend joined to our group. Thank you Bear_Music and enjoy your stay.
I am sure you will help a lot of us with your experience.
