I have gotten many comments about one building as opposed to many buildings. I have also seen comments on this in past posts (just can't remember where).
I would like to say that for myself I did not take the word "buildings" to mean plural as it was used in the sentence but rather collectively. I guess it was all up to the interpretation and I presume others who sent in photos of one building felt the same way. Those who live in very small towns or villages (as the topic suggested) might not have the opportunity to take a picture of more than one building and that is why I took it to mean collectively. |

So bored with all too literal (and so often failed attempts at) challenge interpretations. I don't care how many buidings are in the shot (or any at all, if some connection can still be made or construed), especially with challenges which do not demand a strong human quality, topically.
If those who live in a remote or rural area deliver a good photo with an 'urbane' quality, they certainly will have my attention, as a voter. Any exceptional capture is worth considering, IMO. |

"Shoot anything with buildings - from cities to villages."
Well, technically, the photo does not need to have ANY buildings in it. A shot taken in a city would qualify even if there are no buildings in the picture. The descriptions says to should anything WITH buildings and cities have buildings. It does not say to shoot the actual buildings. |

And since it says to shoot anything with buildings, then photos with one building in them could still work if the building is used by something like an architectural firm, since it would likely have many miniature buildings within. ;)

Better yet, a portrait of Donald Trump would work since we all know that Donald has buildings. |

How about a Monopoly game? Everybody knows Monopoly has houses and hotels.

That's a bit picky isn't it? One of my favorites is a photograph of a little cottage in the country. |

I, too, read the challenge to mean 'shoot any building or buildings, from those in villages to those in cities'.
However, just re-reading it, 'anything with buildings, from cities to villages' COULD mean 'shoot any center of populace, any group of habitation, from cities, to villages'. Reading it this way, it could mean to only shoot towns, villages, cities, metropolis', one-horse towns, hamlets, settlements, etc.
Having said that, because the challenge can be interpreted in more ways that one, the voting should take this into account. As long as the photographer has interpreted the challenge in an 'acceptable' way, the photo should be rated accordingly.

Yeah - I may have made some comments about only seeing one building - just because when I think "urban" I think inner city, pretty much, so I was expecting to see lots of buildings. However, I haven't scored them any differently than the photos I see multiple buildings in. There are a few wonderful shots of single buildings (and some boring ones too). I score according to how interesting the shot is...
Now, if it has NO buildings in it, expect a low score.

this is the whole point really. the scores people have been complaining about reflect how many people agree with the people that only included one building in their shot. it works out nicely. before coming to the forums to rant about something why not look at the score received and ask yourself why you disagree with so many people. the only answer is because you didn't meet the challenge, you tried to stretch it too much |
