Phew, my take on the collage ;)
Boy was it freezing out and timing shots in between gusts made it even harder but it was worth it. A very educational photo experience for me.

Did anyone think about using a gradient ND filter to get a wide shot including the horizon, so that the ground would show up better without blowing out the moon? It may be something to try next time I go out to shoot moon shots.

re the bad news; I hope that it is just jammed, and not broken inside. In any case, I hope that it is repairable. I have one of the new little LED headlights that they sell everywhere now, and it has already saved me from something similar a couple of times when moving around at night.

Yes, I carry one also and a little handheld LED flashlight. I was using the flashlight and carring the camera still on the tripod (my bad) and turned back to shine the light behind me for an elderly lady who did not have a light when bam! my feet went out from under me. Always happends when you let your weight go to your heals going downhill on slippery surface. Next time I just might forget my old boyscout motto.

Here's the lunar eclipse sequence I got (and also check out the blog my Dad and I created).

Update: I happen to live near where a guy from the refinery lives and had sent him the shot by e-mail. The refinery management loved it and wanted to put it in their company newsletter. so the guy asks me what I would charge. Since I don't normally sell my stuff I told him if it was for his house and wall I would give him a print. Since the company wants it for a newsletter I'd give it to them for $100 plus a beer. The countered with the $100 and two beers! So looks like I sold the shot.

This is the best shot I took during the full eclipse. Adjusted levels and saturation in PS. It is now framed and will be shown in a local exhibit. Many thanks to jbsmithana for showing me how to include a pic in a post!
