I have a canon EOS 350D but am thinking of upgrading. Financially I can't go for the 5D or 1D as I would have to change most of my lenses as they are mainly ef-s not ef lenses. Is there much difference between the canon 350D and 40D, would it be worth the upgrade or can anyone advise me on what to do.
hope you can help |

You won't need a 5D or a 1D series. The 40D is so close it's not funny.
You won't regret the upgrade. |

I upgraded from a 10D to a 40D and there's a world of difference. The difference would be even greater from the 350D.

Thanks to you all for taking the time to reply. I've been toying with this for some time now and was boggle eyed with it all. You've really made my mind up for me.
I can't wait to get the new one now!!!

I'd be interested to hear from those who've made the upgrade how the difference is so great. What changes have you noticed? Is it just limited to build quality, extended ISO and live view? |

i don't really care too much for live view, since you can't use AF with it, and if you're going to manual focus, then its better to look through the viewfinder anyway.
the main things that i love about the 40d that sets it worlds apart are:
1) fps
2) build quality and feel in hand
3) low light / high iso noise (or lack thereof)
4) large gorgeous screen
5) sensor cleaning (bye bye dust)
6) longer battery life (i have yet to need a recharge after 1000+ shots)
7) huge frame buffer, good for shooting RAW
8) you don't lose images if you open the CF slot and its still writing
9) the interface! dual scroll wheels kick ass.
10) the second mini-LCD screen on top of the camera
11) 10.1 vs 8 mp (for me atleast, coming from 350d)
ETA: oops, 10.1 not 12.1

You can use AF with live view. You do it with the AF-ON button. |

It does black out the LCD to do it, but it is possible.
