Natalya, I think we'll be a formidable enough crowd on our own to deal with any we may encounter. :-) |

So, we may have to deviate slightly if things get too busy, but don't worry I have had plenty of practice getting chariots through crowds!! There are loads of bruised ankles to prove it!! |
Thanks Steve. If you could let me know as soon as you know the route I'd appreciate it.

Sadly I am at perfect level to get hit by passersby and their bags etc when I am in the chair and I just dont walk fast enough (and am too unsteady on my feet) to feel safe on my sticks...will see what Steve comes back with tomorrow :o)
Don't forget to charge the walkie talkies Andi ;o) |

Hahha! You don't need protection, it's all those poor people trying to enjoy the parade!! I am a Lethal Weapon when armed with a chariot, just ask my daughter!! |

Funny you should mention that T, not only did I find both of them tonight during my spring clean but also found the charger (just need to remember to bring them). |

It'll be the first thing I ask you when I get in the car, Andi . . .
*wanders off to ask his wife to remind him to ask Andi if he has the walkie talkies*

From what I can gather on other interweb sites, I believe the parade assembles in Park Lane (South) goes along Piccadilly, down Regent Street South, along Cockspur Street, across Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall to finish.
Only clash with the original route is the top end of Whitehall and Trafalgar Square...depending on who gets where and when. |

So, anybody care to voice an opinion on which lenses I should bring? I leave Finland on Friday 14th and will be in London for 5 days, then home in the North with my family for Easter. Maybe even in the Lake District for Easter weekend. So, I'm struggling to decide what to bring. Don't want to carry too much, but then don't really want to be too resticted. Now, if only my 18-200 wasn't in for repair......
I suppose it's a toss up between bringing the 70-300 (el cheapo lens, but lightweight and is OK when outside) or the 70-200 (very heavy, but much better quality) I'm definitely bringing the 17-55, that's a given. Or, shall I just bring the 50mm and really restrict myself to using that one. Ah, decisions decisions. |

I've been trying to decide the same thing. My 70-200 is staying home for sure (I don't use it all that often - may sell it at some point.) The 24-105 is definitely coming, as is the 10-22. Now the question is do I bring the 50mm and/or the 100mm? I'm thinking the 50mm may come - it's small and very light (and cheap!) and the 100mm, though I've been enjoying using that one of late, may stay home. |

Thanks Chas, I am sure there is a big enough group of us to create a little barrier between me and the 'crowds ;o) If things get too difficult for me it might be a case of breaking away from you guys and then meeting up with you all again away from things.
I'm used to being in busy (ish) places, however, I am more than aware of my surroundings and where people are but, as the lady in Asda showed at the weekend it seems I am invisable to others...she ran into the back of my wheelchair with her suprtmarket trolley!!!
I'll have a think and a chat to Andi, I am sure we'll come up with a plan :o) |

OK, three lenses it is. Or I could just bring my P&S and it'd all be a LOT easier! :-)
If I buy a train ticket via the online system, does it have me print the ticket from my computer or do I have to pick up a ticket somewhere? Is it the same price to buy online in advance as it is to buy at the station the day of travel? I know with Die Bahn it's cheaper to buy online in advance. Thanks! |

Worse, and this is kinda pathetic in a way, is I considered bringing two bodies so I don't have to switch lenses.... :-) |

Funny! I had considered that too, but I'd need a serious massage after carrying all that kit. It gets heavy after a long day.

Unless you get an advanced deal on the internet train tickets are usually about the same price on the day. Certainly the tube prices are the same. I think if you buy online they have to post the tickets to you but that may depend on the train company. Hope that makes a little bit of sense! |

I'll check, but if they have to post them, that won't work. Die Bahn is pretty easy - if you buy online you can print your ticket from your home computer - it's a very nice system. I'll probably just buy tickets when I get there.
Oh, and I don't know what you've got planned for us on Saturday, but I do want to try to get to St Pancras station - promised jonfrommk I'd shoot it. :-) |

It really is a fantastic building and easy to get to on the tube, we'll have plenty time to get over there :o) |

Deb, Natalya, my train gets in to Kings Cross sometime around 9.40 (I think). KingsX is just around the corner from St Pancras - would that be a good place to meet? I'll sendyou both an e-mail later - work is calling right now, but shall be a slacker later and peek at the forum! |

Natalya, how far is the hotel we'll be at on Saturday night from the station where I'll pick you up? I'm thinking we can do a quick bag drag to there and drop stuff off before we go meet Sara. Is that workable? |
