PS Can I just say that if it's pissing it down I may chicken out... otherwise, I'll be there!

Forecast is sunny periods with the chance of a shower(BBC Weather Site), light wind and just bring a brolly in case. Deb will think we all walk around with umbrellas...which of course we will!

Yeah, true but the weather forecasts have been pretty poor lately... in that they are often at least a day out with when weather patterns are coming in or going out, even when only forecasting a day or two ahead!
But yeah, if it's not peeing it down we'll be there!

Deb plans to buy an official honest to goodness London brolly when she gets there. I can't just have any old umbrella - I need a brolly!

Only the American tourists have them....

Melethia, considering I see tons of people with the German flag on army-like coats around here it might work just as well the other way around.

It's looking like we might be lucky - still a bit too early for any real accuracy but looking okay so far....I find Metcheck is actually quite accurate to within about 48 hours

(postcode entered is for the Albert Embankment)

EDIT: p.s. a friend of mine has just moved his animation art business into the Moveum at County Hall if we do need an indoor shelter (no great photographically but who knows)

OK, packing right now and still have the ongoing lens dilemma. Looks like it's going to be the 17-55 and the 70-200 after all.

So, anybody care to voice an opinion on which lenses I should bring? I leave Finland on Friday 14th and will be in London for 5 days, then home in the North with my family for Easter. Maybe even in the Lake District for Easter weekend. So, I'm struggling to decide what to bring. Don't want to carry too much, but then don't really want to be too restricted. Now, if only my 18-200 wasn't in for repair......

I suppose it's a toss up between bringing the 70-300 (el cheapo lens, but lightweight and is OK when outside) or the 70-200 (very heavy, but much better quality) I'm definitely bringing the 17-55, that's a given. Or, shall I just bring the 50mm and really restrict myself to using that one. Ah, decisions decisions.

Good plan Sarah! Do you have the 50mm as well?

Sounds sensible. I'm bringing my 70-200, 17-40, and my 50mm (they're what I'm used to travelling with anyway. Though I think I'll leave the waterproof rucksack at home, in the hope I won't fall into any rivers this time :) )

FWIW I will no doubt be bringing all my lenses and putting up with the inevitable back pain :) Just got my 10-20mm and want to give it some exercise.

purpleflutterby13: Guess I'll see you at the station at stupid-o-clock, I suspect we'll be the only fools around at that time so shouldn't be hard to find :)

Weather Update:

Without wanting to jinx tomorrow it seems as if we're going to miss anything really heavy and be left with a nice afternoon of broken cloud, some sun and possible very light drizzle (i.e. no problemo!).

However, this is the UK as you all know...and weather forecasting is more Art than Science...so it'll probably snow all day tomorrow :)

Seeya at 10 tomorrow..

I'll probably have the 16-35 2.8, 85 1.8, 24-70 2.8 & 70-200 2.8 IS.. Since I can only use one of these at a time people are welcome to test the others out.

Tomorrow's tomorrow, don't you mean, Nick?

Mark, I may take you up on your offer to let people try one of your lenses.

I think when I wrote that technically it was tomorrow (very early in the morning today/last night/pre sleep) :)

Mark - I'll definitely take you up on that offer if okay.... just in the process of selling my flat and I fully intend to liberate some of that equity for new glass...(24-70 and 70-200 IS in partic on a full frame body).

N

EDIT: p.s. I'll have my standard loadout with me: 15mm fish, 17-40, 50, 100-400, 2 speedlites, ST-E2, tripod.

Given the St Patricks day stuff is going to be omnipresent:

Parade Route:
//www.london.gov.uk/stpatricksday/docs/parade-route-07.pdf

And general Festival links
//www.london.gov.uk/stpatricksday/festival/index.jsp

If it helps :)

Erm...the weather for Sunday is looking dodgy...I think we have to expect fairly continuous rain of varying degrees of heaviness...I guess that'll be my Harsh Environment then :)

No worries, you want me to bring the 5D so you can give it a try out?
