I'm not voting but have to say that there are some great photos entered in this challenge. Very impressed, particularly considering the low number of entries.

ETA: it took me a while to go thru each entry and examine the images and i'm still not 100% set on the scores so will be looking thru them a few more times

Why aren't you voting? (just curious)
06/03/2008 10:13:51 AM · #31
I personally wasn't going to vote since I have an entry and don't trust myself to not be unfair, however since at least one mask has won a 10 from me I guess I will be voting and commenting on as many as I can this week. :)

When I have a shot in a challenge I tend not to vote on that challenge, but it does give you a wonderful freedom to comment on shots without worrying about any potential bias . .

eta I suspect there are going to be some very high scores out there for a challenge with so few entries . .

maybe its just me, but ive never really had a problem voting in a challenge i am entered in, i would actually prefer to. i dont think that my voting can help or hinder my photos score, although it can change the photos placement in the challenge, which isn't a huge deal for me...

if there was a cowboy anywhere near where I live I probably would have hog-tied him and shot-gun married him by now :) I don't live near cowboys --horses yes...but not cowboys.... hrm... does the shoot have to have a cowboy in it? :(

Nope. Pertains or associated with cowboys. I'm thinking a horse just might qualify. Get that great shot and go for the RED! (Blue's mine!)

I reckon the count of votes is about right - its the actual vote cast that upsets me!

All decent comments and (thus far) only kleski has offered any insight into why its scoring so badly. IMHO its scoring at least a full point less than anticipated :(

I fully expect someone to step forward if they gave me 1 - 4 and explain exactly why my image is so "BAD" - other than that they "Don't like it" -- even images I don't like I rate with fairness- giving credit to creativity- new ideas - originality - light/darkness tones - lighting - composition - perspective - focus- interest factor and did it make me pause and get a reaction from me- could it be used in a manner outside of just for this challenge (ie: another challenge i saw an image I didn't like personally but could verymuch see it in a print-ad and gave it an extra point for that, the colors were amazing -so I rated that - I detatched myself from my personal taste and rated the photo on its own merits to the best of my ability; and ended up rating it somewhere between an 8 and 10 --asthetically the image had interesting shapes and was an interseting overall image; but obviously a lot of voters like to cut off a persons legs at their thighs without explaining why) :( -if and when i ever do vote an image low into the 4's and below I'll in depth explain why I personally made that choice even if it is in a private message after challenge- its courtesy - and I would hope that that person has some really nice images in their profile that I can look at as a refrence for their expectations of lighting/etc -

(YES i'm upset about the 4 on this challenge I LIKE my image) :(

up date. lots of comments, thats always nice. so far im basically really happy im scoring so well, but it upsets me that there are so many others scoring quite low. i though most of the images in this challenge were quite good, i think i only had maybe 15-20 with a 5 or lower(thats just off the the top of my head, i cant rememebr exactly.
it just seems strange...

edit: i actually marked 43 with a 5 or lower...
