What's interesting is right or wrong, 12 voters (i.e. 8% of the voting block) decided that image's fate. Had they voted like everyone else did vw8802's photo finishes in the top 20 and is deemed a success.

Even the entries on the last page of the challenge results didn't get as many 1s (except for Whiterook's entry) and many of those were less on topic than vw8802's and with execution/concept that fell woefully short of his. How else can you explain those extra 1s he got if it wasn't the result of the sexuality in the image? Can we at least be honest with ourselves here?

I think people have been very open and honest with how they felt, if the image would have related to the green theme it would have done very well.

I think it's important to avoid conflating a low vote due to the "sexuality" of the image with the pejorative characterization of someone as a "prude." Several people have expressed in this very thread that it was not the provocative nature of the photo itself which drew their negative response, rather it was the inappropriate (in their opinion) and gratuitous use of that sexuality to "sell" a completely unrelated concept/product.

But these are not boobs, they are recycled silicone!

Plastic wrap, plastic body parts, not quite green ;)

The image itself is stunning, but that's not the issue.

I'm just wondering what all of those brown specks on the sides of the image are....

i'd like to see the original image.

Maybe it's yesterday's lasagna and that's recycled plastic after all ... ;-)

I don't agree. If those 1's were 4's (not as harsh, but voting as if it didn't fit the challenge), it would have raised his score by only .25, giving him a 5.89

You posted your opinion. Others posted theirs. No need to get snarky about it.

You didn't like my smilie???? I put it there for a reason. Perhaps some coffee would help yours.

I honestly did not see it. And even when you posted this, I had to go look for it.

Sorry. I thought it was an end parenthesis, I guess when I read the first time.

It is an excellent image and a truly beautiful woman.

Tell me how on any level it fits the challenge.

The point was had they voted like the rest of the voters which gave it a total score of 6.05, it would have put the entry into the top 20.

maybe i don't know what you mean by "voted like the rest of the voters"

meaning those 12 votes distributed across the curve?

If everyone voted like everyone else there would be a lot of ties, we all vote to give our response to the photo rather than trying to vote like everyone else. Comes down to this one finished where it finished and complaining will not change a thing.

I didn't vote on this challenge, but I would've voted this down for DNMC, something I didn't used to do until about three or four months ago. But, honestly, I got so sick of shoehorns that I will not give a shoehorn image more than a five. I think a photograper deserves credit for a good shot, but not one that does not fit the challenge. Like many others have said on here this does not fit the challenge description, although on that same note there are two or three images in the top 20 that I don't feel fit the challenge either- I won't point them out here, because I don't agree with calling people out on either their photography or comments. This shot should've been entered into the free study, where it probably would've done very well.

...seriously?...maybe the high scores are due to males voting with the wrong head if we're gonna follow that bit of logic.

Sure, why not? I've lived with women all my life I've seen such behavior quite often in similar circumstances from many women. Note also that I said it may reflect a little female cattiness, not that it in fact did. If you can show me proof that none of the women voters acted in such a manner, then I may be willing to change my mind.

Of course it's also possible that your suggestion about the "males voting with the wrong head" may be the reality. Who knows? I certainly think that is possible.

Ummmmmmm....excuse me...I voted it a 7....it was amongst my highest votes....is that enough for you? I agree...there are some catty chicks out there who are just plain jealous of the model....but that is their problem...!!!! The model is awesome and the photographer even more so!

I'm a female AND a prude, and if I could have figured out how it had met the challenge at all it would have gotten at least a 7 from me.

It's a stupid statement anyway... There's NO evidence to support that...

It's no stupider than any of your opinions.

Anyone got change for a nickel? I thought about giving my two cents worth, but all I got is a nickel and this discussion is definitely not worth five cents. ;)

There is nothing wrong with being a prude...everyone is entitled to their own opinion.....! :) I explained why I thought it met the challenge very early in the thread....but again.....that is just my opinion.

but, she's not reusing the plastic, she is just using it in a manner different than is normally found -- it is coming straight off the roll. :)

I was just saying that I didn't vote it down because I'm female (as was asserted in this thread), or because it showed a nekkid woman (which also came up). My low vote was solely due to the lack of tie to the challenge, that I could see when voting.
