THe mall interests me greatly. I saw tons of great buildings to do on my way to the zoo in July....I almost stopped the cab driver twice! |

Let'e be on the Mall in the morning, when the temps will be low and we'll want all the light, and then go to the Arboretum in the afternoon, when it'll be warmer and we'll enjoy what shade there is.
So how's this?

Count me in for this, looking forward to meeting people with similar interests.
I'll go back and read the whole thread to see what's been decided upon
Ok, read the thread, looks like nothing's been decided yet.
I am game for anything, except the zoo. Never been a big fan.

Hey Pavel, It will be good to meet another DPCer next month. Did you see the last post by levyj413 about 5 posts down from yours? In his post he outlined what our day will be like.

Hey, Jeff, let me know what you need in the way of BBQ support. I still have my Costco card ;-)
I can also transport up to 6 people who are not embarrassed to be seen driving around in a minivan with a big sticker of a bunny on the back side window (that would be the Bunnymobile, for the uninitiated). Looks like the morning and lunchtime stuff is all walkable from Metro stops but the Arboretuem and etc. will require a few drivers.
Tripods are a no-no on the Capitol grounds, yes? Think I'll save the support equipment for the Arboreteum, anyway, just to travel lighter. |

I haven't been active on the DPC for the longest time. I may attend since I have to go to Dulles later in afternoon. I still feel bad for not showing up last year...

I'm thinking about coming down again, I can't make up my mind. Mom & I were supposed to do our girls wkend that date, but she fell & wound up in the hospital with 10 broken ribs so I doubt she's going to want to sleep on basically a cot in a cabin for 2 nights.... I'll know probably the Thurs. or Fri before the gtg, so I guess count me out for now, but if I show up I'll be there! :P |

lol, I'm sure she would definitely appreciate the wine! She actually fell off of her deck (about 15') & bruised her liver on her landing, so I'm not sure how soon she'll be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages. She said she was trying out for the olympics & missed her landing, at least she's been in good spirits!! :) |

Not to be a downer but the weekend forecast is looking a little wet. Might want to bring an umbrella or two.
On a side note, is anyone planning on hitting the Iwo Jima Memorial Monday night for the full moon over the monuments shot? Sept 15th is the second of two chances to get this shot this year. We went in March but I did not have my camera yet. We also made the mistake of setting up at the Netherlands Carillon, found out later that in front of the Memorial is a much better shot. Here's one my wife took from that night:
(forgive me if i'm breaking any rules posting and linking to a flickr account)
