Back home now... Enjoyed the company. Got to meet some new people. Had a blast working with the models. Got some great looking pics. Learned a few things. Taught a few things. What a great time.

Thanks Becky and Steve for putting this together! :)

Glad to hear everyone is making it home safe and sound.

It was a bast! I was thrilled seeing some "old" friends and meeting and making some new ones. When do we get to do it again?!?! Thank you to all of the models you did such a wonderful job and were very professional.

Hundreds (690 to be exact) of shots to go through but WOW did I get some great ones. :D

Becky, and David thanks for being such great influences and mentors I know a lot of us greatly benefited from just around you today.

@ WCpilot I hope Jen does join up we need all the local talent we can muster, someone has to try and take down Iceland! :)

Thanks again to everyone!

Nald

Yes, it was very fun! We had a great turnout, let's start planning the next one. A fall session? The leaves will be turning red soon.

It was great meeting all of you, I've definitely learned a lot today, thanks David, Becky, Steve and everyone else! Let's see if we can post the top 2 or 3 of everyone. :)

we need to go back to the flats again with more props (I think Madelyn is going back in a few weeks).

With so many fun models and venues and props (including cars!)... I would really struggled to come up with a short list of only 2 or 3 top images.

So to narrow things down, here are just a couple of my daughter:

But to be more complete, here are 94 of my "top" images! :) (hey, I narrowed it down from 1215 images!)

Even more images are on my website!

David, Some of us sleep. ;-)

... and work ;-)

... on things besides photography :-(

Becky

I haven't even had a chance to download the images. I love yours BTW.

First, I cheated! Since Angie was driving her car, I took my laptop with me and downloaded during the hour and a half long drive home! :)

Second, sleep and work are both highly overrated. *lol*

Just dropped the film off this morning, haha. I have a couple digital shots I'll be getting up in the next day or two as well.

David, you definitely got some great stuff! I'll see Jen today and hassle her again to join. If nothing else, she needs to see your shots of her!

Here are just a few that I've had a chance to look at and edit. David your pictures turned out wonderful and I'm seriously depressed about my shots after viewing yours. If you ever get a free minute, I'd love to know step by step your workflow. You're so quick and the results look like you've spent weeks working on them.

I had a blast Saturday night and enjoyed meeting you all. I hope to hook up again in the near future. I'd like to thank the models for taking time out of their schedules to help us out and Steve for driving. Much appreciated.

I'm about half way through mine. Should have some stuff up tonight.

@ pearlseyes I think you are being way too hard on yourself! Those shots are amazing. If there is anything I can help you with as far as workflow (aside from Daivd) please don't hesitate to shoot me an email. Love to help out in any way I can.

Talk to you guys soon.

I saw your pictures but missed reading your post...

:( Ohmygosh ... That's not my intention at all. I'm sure there might be some "difficult to get" shots that I may have gotten that others didn't. But the rest of it is all creativity and I've generally found that in a group like this, there is a wide variety of creativity! So many different angles, so many different interpretations of the same scene (both in camera as well as in post). There is no way I came away with any kind of monopoly on good shots. I've already seen some of my daughter's images (I think she emailed to everyone) and am impressed by what she got.

I do hope you'll take the time to share your images. There is no better way to learn and grow. The feedback you get here will help you understand which ones really are the good ones (not always what you think!) which will aid you in learning what and how to shoot the next time around. Without a "feedback loop" all you get is output. Putting feedback into the system is what lets you get better output.

My only secrets here are: 1) try to get it right in camera (doesn't always happen!), and 2) use Lightroom to quickly find the best images AND process them.

I would LOVE to show you my workflow... stop by the house for a visit and I'll show you what I'm doing. Warning: I'll make a Lightroom-believer out of you. :)

Be sure to let the models know directly. Their only compensation in this are the images we give them.

I've already heard back from and even delivered a few edited shots to both Angie and Lacey. I told them to pick the ones they liked best (limiting to maybe 3-5 images) and that I'd then edit those images and give them full size images. I encourage others to do something similar so that they can build their portfolios.

I added a couple more shots to my Salt Flats folder. I actually took the time to edit one (that hasn't been purchased or requested by anyone, this was solely for me). I wanted to try a little bit of HDR processing on this one... tell me what you think:

Here are some of my Salt Flat Pictures let me know what you think :) I had a great time and would love to get together again sometime. I am hoping to go up there again to take those ballroom pictures with my sister, so if anyone is interested in that, let me know!

I posted some comments for you. And yeah... I'd love to tag along if I'm available (that's the hard part). Just let me know when.

Great shots Madelyn! I still need to go through mine. :) Let me know when you go up to the flats again, I want to go again with more props. Maybe open a new thread for SLC GTG 2 (with shots in the old Wendover airfield).

So, I got the slides back yesterday, and a number of them had huge scratches!! None of them are totally destroyed, nothing some cloning and spot healing won't fix. But I was so angry about that. Oh well, I'll try and have some scans ready by the weekend. I'm going in to develop the B&W roll I shot now. At least I know that one will be taken care of! haha
