I think it's beautiful Cody. May I suggest that you print and frame it to look back on as you grow as a photographer. Keep up the good work! |

I think it's a great shot. In my opinion, I would have moved the horizon down another 20% or so. Or, after the shot, cropped off the bottom 20%. This has a real good feel to it. I like the boat in the background. |

Are you 100% satisfied? Is there anything you would change if you were going to re-shoot the photo?

i like it and I think I see what you're trying for. composition could be more defined here. Ask yourself questions like....your focus the river? the sky? subject? what story is this picture trying to send? Or is it more artistic? Only you will know. If it were me, i would let in a little bit more light, bring in a little bit of sky/water and maybe blow out just a tad with the sun to give the silhouette a more profound impact. Doing so, you might get a lot of un-welcomed noise because it's quite under exposed. Just my thoughts.... |

Never be satisfied. It kills creativity. |

And yet I like the light as it is :) For me, it allows the silhouette to be a part of the whole, rather than the whole itself. Does that make sense?
I do agree that a bit of crop off the bottom might help, though. It depends, though, on what feeling you want to convey. For me, bringing it all down a bit makes the sky more....hmm... not sure of just the right words... more powerful? Vast? Somehow it seems to make me think more about what might be going on in the woman's mind. She doesn't seem as much to be just enjoying a lovely sunset as maybe longing to be on that boat. Is she maybe saying goodbye to someone on it, or eagerly awaiting their arrival?
Or is she looking downwards, into the dark water, and wondering if she has the courage to take the final leap?
I really like that we don't know and can't see enough to tell. :) |

Very cool shot Cody. I agree with a few here that some space needs to be trimmed from the top or bottom, but I'll leave it up to you to decide where. I like the silhouetted subject but can't seem to distinguish whether it's a she or a he, not that it matters much to the overall effect, mind you. An image to be proud of for sure and one to keep as a print, as someone else suggested. |

Oh, you'll get a lot of that here!........8>)
Listen, take heed, try different things, but ultimately, stop when YOU have what you want from the image.
BTW, I think it's just fine.

Personally in that situation I would have metered for the sky(essentially what you did) and popped a bit of flash off camera, through a softbox or brolly box on the subject to avoid the silhouette. But if you were going for darker then I'd say you have it.

I like it the way it is, and would not crop, as both the top of the sky and the barely visible railings at the bottom are very nice.
Looks like you are now ready to enter some challenges.... :-) |

FWIW, I like it a lot. Then again, I love pure black silhouettes. |

No cropping needed in my opinion. A well done, well composed silhouette :-) |
