See it's the way the question is asked..... No doubt there are responses from different generations above and each think they are right, and in some ways both are. I would say the range of individuals has not changed in such a short time, although information (or maybe I should say data rather then information but anyway) is easier to find.

With access to more info, stupid people can be more stupid and brilliant people can be more brilliant but the bulk of us just don't change. What is interesting is that the technology uptake in the retired generation is higher then the middle generation but not as high as the young gen - cause they are generally busy with young kids and mortgages & other trivia.

I'm sure every generation feels smarter than the one before, it's one way to compensate for being old.

The generation previous to mine could stop learning after mastering the 3 R's (readin', 'ritin', & 'rithmatic)& get by.

The parents of previous generations could teach the kids everything they needed to know. Nowadays, the kids know more about some subjects than their parents ever will.

But are we smarter? Probably not.
