I am quite new here and am pretty impressed by camaraderie of the people here. BTW, just a hindsight, I posted this picture in the vehicle theme:
//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio_edit.php?IMAGE_ID=51054
Should I have posted this?
//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio_edit.php?IMAGE_ID=52258
Your comment will be highly appreciated. What is the best way to choose pictures for the challenge? I know each one of you will have an opinion and I know I will learn from your esteemed opinions, no matter how diverse they can get. |

Best way to get a response is to put up the thumbnails. This is how:
Your first picture has an address of -(//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio_edit.php?IMAGE_ID=51054)The image id # is 51054.
Click on and enter the image id in this case is 51054 and you get this:
Enter 52258 after clicking the and you get this:
...or you can just click on the Automatically parse Urls space by the signature.

I enjoyed the feed back. I submitted a raw photo for critique and received some favorable ideas. I cleaned up the photo for personal print. Great work, but I do understand some of the disappointment by some. I think the forum did a good job of promoting creativity for the rest o us. |

Librodo...Not sure which picture I prefer as they both have issues that I would have liked to have seen resolved before entering them. Your entry, "The Way to a Woman's Heart..." feels cramped and constrained by your very thick and dark border. In addition, the color of the border and the overall lighting I find to be too dark and depressing. I think you did this to help hightlight the colored light that you used and to give the impression of nighttime, but the effect seems dampened and not strong enough. Maybe some fill light on the woman's face would have helped it along for me. I also would have liked to have seen the colored light on the bike match the color of one of the accessories that the woman is wearing, such as her earings or lipstick. That would have also given the photo more impact and coherence.
Your background seems to be split, between what appears to be a black backdrop of some sort (that does not go down far enough) and what appears to be the outside? (just guessing what that is). This dark background along with the model's dark hair and the dark lighting makes the woman stand out even less. Depsite these issues, I rated this picture hightly (7) and liked very much the composition and subject matter.
I think you made the right decsion by entering the one you did as I find the second picture to be a rehashing of what has been done many times before. It's hackneyed, the lighting is way too harsh, the picture is too busy for my tastes, and the background/floor is uninteresting and just makes it even busier.
I hope you didn't find my criticisms to be too harsh, but rather, helpful. I have already seen your work and like it very much, especially your "money" challenge entry, which I think was way underrated by the voters.
Good luck in future challenges and I look forward to viewing more of your work.

In photo #1.) - the model distracts from your subject, the motorcycle. It's a nice clean shot and well crafted, but would fit other challenges better.
In photo #2.) - nice composition, but the lights are too hot on the chrome. I also find the background distracting. The other bikes do not need to be thereΓΆ€Β¦..not sure if you could have help that. (Showroom?)
When photographing motorcycles, I would recommend a center stand or a wheel stand. The vertical tilt gives me the appearance that you just stood over it and shot it.
I think the 1st was a better scoring entry.

Thanks to all the comments. No, I don't find the comment harsh Olyuzi. I am very grateful for them as that basically is the essence of "improvement". |
