Hello all - I am new to the site and somewhat new to digital photography but I want to make sure I am up on the rules in case that 1 in a 1,000,000 shot comes along. Can someone explain to me what EXIF info is.

Personally I agree that a winner be required to submit an original - what IS the big deal.

Thanks, Michelle

This portion of the FAQ should help you out.

In addition to the shareware applications referred to in the FAQ for reading EXIF data, you may want to give a freeware program called EXIFER a try. I have used it quite a bit and like it (especially for the $$$).

It is available at //www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/

EXIF info is the info that tells you when the shot was taken & all the details along with it such as aperture, exposure, shutter speed, etc..

Hi Michelle. Welcome to dpc. Another free program that will display EXIF info for you, and do a whole lot more, is IrfanView.
IrfanView homepage
It's has lots of features and is easy to use.

Looking forward to your entries.
