Does anyone else have the same problem I do? Just as of late, when I go in to the page from where you start voting (the page with all of the thumb nails) about a quarter to a third of them don't load and display an "x" for the image. I can right click on them and say show image and then they will come in fine. I'm on WinXP Pro w/ IE 2 SP2 (all up to date).

Anyone else have this issue? It just starter probably about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I'm wondering if DPC changed anything that has caused this? It happens on no other web site that I know of.

Thanks!

This has been discussed before, a search might help turn up some answers.

I think one of the suggestions was if you are running some kind of "ad blocker" (as part of your firewall or a separate product). Disable it temporarily, then press [Shift] while pressing the Reload button and see if the images appear. If they do, it is likely the "ad blocker" thinking that the thumbnails are advertisements, especially because they can be served up from "images.dpchallenge.com" rather than "www.dpchallenge.com". You'll have to figure out how to put "images.dpchallenges.com" on your software's "white list" so it doesn't block those images.

Thanks, EddyG! But, I'm not running an add blocker software. I will do a search and see what I can find out in the forums.

Thanks again!

Bill - I have a similar problem, but this is the first I heard about adblockers affecting the site. About the same proportion you stated are invisible to my computer - all I can see is the title hyperlinked. I have the problem at home, but not at work. In my case, it's not a memory problem, or an IE settings problem that I could identify, despite previous recommendations. I'll have to try the firewall's pop-up blocker. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

I also noticed this but it had only happened recently, Saturday. Anyway the only change to my computer was I installed Norton Anti Spam software. I have uninstalled and I now see all the thumbnails.

Hope this helps

I have Norton FireWall and have activated the no-pop-up option. I'll have to try to turn it off to see what happens.

Funny thing is, one night last week, at 2:30 AM EST, I could see them all. The next day, gone again.

I am encountering this problem again after I put NIS on my new system. I disabled the anti-spam portion of the applicaiton and it did not solve the problem. I then disabled the firewall portion of the program and that did not solve the problem either. When I turned off the entire service, DPC started working again. I'm not sure what the source of the problem is yet but I am investigating. If anyone knows the solution, please share :)

I found the solution to this problem.... it is in the ad blocking portion of Norton Internet Security. You can fix it without disabling ad blocking also...

1. Go to the ad blocking and choose the 'configure' option.

2. Press the 'advanced' button to configure ad blocking for individual websites.

3. Press the 'add site' button to add 'www.dpchallenge.com' to the sites list.

4. Select 'www.dpchallenge.com' from the list and then press the 'add' button.

5. In the html string window, enter "/" without the quotation marks and select the 'permit' radio button.

6. Press OK and work your way back to the top level.

This will resolve the issue of missing thumbnails caused by NIS 2004.

Yup, I did what John said when I first found here, I had NIS 2003 running, and it solved the problem.

From memory I think I also had to permit access for this site for "adds" from:

//www.dpcprints.com

and

images.dpchallenge.com

I think some of the images are stored on an image domain.

Thanks.. I didn't notice the problem on DPCPrints but I have made that change as well. I wonder if visitors to that site who are using NIS can't see all the images? :(
