Hi
Finally i have been able to save enough money to buy DSLR.
I was keen to buy Nikon earlier as i dreamt that i would buy film slr like F3 etc some day and than use same lens.I have realised that practically i won't be shooting films. My budget is 650$, i am based in India. Please let me know between Nikon and Canon which system is cheaper in terms of lenses, accessories etc to develop.
Please suggest a model and lens kit i should go for and what acessories should i buy along with camera. I got a bonus.

Your best bet is to go to a camera shop and find out what fits your hand and seems most comfortable to hold & operate.
Then once you know what you like, you can plan your spending accordingly.

On the Nikonfront I guess you could go for either the D3000 or D5000. I'm not familiar with canon. But, as mentioned, go to your camerastore and see which of them that feels right. |

The 18-55 (the newer, stablized version) is the kit lens that comes with it when sold as a kit. It's currently my primary lens. You can pick one up used for about $100. I have been looking at the new Canon 15-85 as a possible upgrade, sometime down the road.
Don't skimp on a cheap tripod. The $30-40 models are priced that way for a reason. They range from total junk to fair, at best. For about $100 and up, you can get something decent. I am partial to a ball head for quick changes, but other like a panhead (the kind with several levers) for the accuracy of positioning.

motherlee has the D3000 with the 18-55mm, both are good. But I bought her the Tamron 18-250mm and together they make a good useable outfit. Of course, she also has access to all my other lenses.
At first I was a bit disappointed with the D3000, but having played with it and making a few adjustments, and her actually using it, I am beginning to see the potential of this handy camera. I consider it a good starting point that will not need upgrading for a year or so. |

Just wanted know if kit lens with 1000d (EFS 18-55) has image stabilisation ? I think lens kit with Nikon 3000 has image stabilisation. |
