Okay.. I have heard of ambulance chasers, but now dpc'ers are gonna be firestation stalkers! LOL

If 'elements' were anything to go by then hopefully not more photoshopped fire/flames/burning things.

Excellent challenge! Nothing like a little bit of fire to "heat" up the competition! ;)

I shot this demonstration of a chip pan fire last summer at a fire station open day.

I`m gonna try and recreate this at home for the challenge. (when the wife is out).

Looks like I was a week early on this one. This was my entry in the "Elements" challenge. If anyone is looking for ideas I have posted in my details how to get a good flame!

until the flame makes it's way back into the spray canister and kills a fellow DPCer

I figured everyone is going to go out and buy some Right Guard now so I have just bought stock in Gillette!

The timimg on this one is not so great. Wish it wasn't so soon after the elements challenge, as I too did fire for that one... Oh well, time to get even more creative I guess. Now where's that Barney doll again? :-)~

I just did one too, and that was pretty scary. I was worried about burning down the house then (which is why mine had a small flame--I put it out as soon as it got bigger and was also afraid the crystal would shatter). I wonder if DPC offers group fire insurance?

I took my picture in the garage with the garage door open. My wife wanted me to do it in the driveway so I wouldn't burn down the house. I have an idea for this challenge. She will probably make me take it in the driveway!

I went into my local hardware store today (big coat and skull cap) and told the guy at the counter I wanted something to burn metal, and what was the best substance for a good flame. 2 mins later the manager was on my shoulder, questioning me on what I was going to set light to (and why). I left with some meths, being watched by 'worried' staff.

No decent pic (yet) but a nice burnt effect on my landlords toolbench!

So would sterno count or is that more like a candle?
02/23/2004 10:38:34 PM · #18
a candle has a wick

too funny! I felt like I was having the same experience at Walmart. I bought a bunch of matches and some rubbing alcohol and some other things that in context with the flammable stuff probably made me look like I was Ted Kazinsky or something.

I think the stories of how people create their shots this week and how many eyebrows will be lost will make this a very fun challenge!

Hmmm, great challege we have here. I have to add, I went into Wal-Mart and asked for dinamite...with such a mazement, they didn't. I thought Wal-Mart had EVERYTHING...well, back to the drawing board. Come on, I ain't that dumb to ask for dinamite. Hey, I don't want the Feds at my door..they'll just get in my my from burning down my house for a photo shoot..:)

TIP

Do not put a naked flame into a bottle you have just poured meths into!

I have to rethink my challenge now (maybe burning flesh?), no real damage done but to see a rocket in your lounge is pretty scary!

Tip #2

If you have your camera in your hand whilst you foolishly try to put out the fire (you just started) with a tissue - snap it and submit it!
I was so worried about the consequences of my latest fire I didn't think of taking a pic of it!
