Not by definition. Negative space can help, depending on your image's "message." |

Seems to me most people here are becoming much more informed as to what, exactly, minimalism is... Thanks for taking the time everyone - in the end, I hope it increases your enjoyment of the challenge.
And, yes, I do see this as a most anti-dpc sort of challenge, and I think my entry reflects that. I'm excited to see what sort of unusual stuff shows up here.. |

I'm thinking cutout will do well if he chooses to enter. Not to jinx him or anything... |

From an art history perspective, I would say that Rococo or late Baroque would stand at the opposite end from Minimalism. Art where every area capable of being detailed is loaded with ruffles and flourishes.
A brutally simple test for an 800 pixel image might be how few bytes the image is. Minimize. |

You can do as much with a P&S in this challenge as you can in any other. It's a digital camera, beyond that you have no restrictions. |

omg, more insistence on the "subject" ... leave the subject at home and take a picture instead. |

I expect to see far too many subjects. :) |

Having only skimmed through some of the bickering, AND if I decide to vote, I will apply my own definition of Minimalism. I will look for images that create visual impact with as few elements as possible. The image could contain any number of techniques or subjects, be it a portrait, motion-panning, contre-jour, whatever. To me, an image that I might have scored well in any of the "Zen" challenges may also do well for me here. Something like a sweeping landscape, or sports action...probably not so much.

I think I'll just look over your comments and you look over mine. |
My comments can be accessed the normal way or you can look at my post on the Posthumous Ribbons thread. |

I should of not bothered to enter into such a "heated" challenge. |
