Not entirely sure why, since I certainly didn't intend to, but I have now commented on 108 images (35%) in the Silence challenge.

I hope some of these will prove useful to the recipients.

I'll probably make some more tonight.

Whilst I think this challenge has certainly got more than it's fair share of utterly bland and uninspiring entries (and no, I'm not saying I could do better) I do think there are also lots of great entries too.

Good luck to all the entrants, especially the photographers of my two top scoring images, which are both amazing!

Go crazy woman Kavey! I didn't enter, but I'm sure everyone who did appreciates it! :-D

yup!
Got your comment... And, yes, it was useful!
Crazy, or not, you talk smart! ;)
Thank you!

You're welcome!
:o)

I enjoyed it - though voting took a LOT of time for this challenge...

Ooh.. I hope you hit mine. I could use some useful comments.. hopefully not about the title. hehe... already got a few on that. They're helpful but all say the same thing. I tried to comment on a bunch, too, but haven't commented on quite -that- many!

Lindsay, as I have completely finalised my voting (and will not change it) you are welcome to PM me with a link to your image and I will make sure I comment on it for you.
Whether I comment in a useful way or not, I can't guarantee, but will try and look past the title!

Kavey, you commented on mine, one of only five comments, and it was indeed helpful. What you had to say will improve my next attempt. Getting feedback ain't always easy, but it's very worthwhile!

Lindsay, I commented your image, I don't know whether it will be useful, I just put all the thoughts I had. I voted yours a 4 and have tried to outline why in my comment.

OK I've now done 122 so I'm taking a break!

Thanks for the comment on mine, Kavey.
I did find it very interesting (it was about cropping the image in a certain way).

How would a crazy woman comment go? You picture reminds me of the time I had tea with the 3 wonderful pink elephants who sang soprano?

Jacko, you got it...

Here are some samples:

Your image is like a red red rose, except it's actually of a dog.

I looked upon your light and dark and remembered it's time to change the light bulb.

I thought I saw a pussycat but actually it was your left foot pressing the camera shutter.

I for one appreciated your comments, Kavey. Especially where you said, "It's otherworldly..." Thanks.

Agreed, I was beginning to think the challenge was "Snowscapes and Graveyards", had to check to make sure I was scoring the right one!

To be honest there are only 3 photos actually worth placing this week, I wonder if I got them right...

Mark, I didn't take part or vote in this challenge, why not pm me with your prediction?

Thank You Kavey,
I Enjoyed your comment and in fact before I just read your Post I had mentioned your comment to my wife as very inspiring... Thanks again

Good for you! I'm finding commenting to be one of the best learning tools at this site.

And thanks for your comment on my entry--it's certainly helpful. :)

Aaaw that's nice - it's nice to hear even if one or two comments are inspiring/ useful etc. I know all of them won't be but... thanks for letting me know that you appreciated the ones you received from me.

:o)

Whilst the ratio of good to bad isn't as high as I think it often is I still found 2 x 10s, 4 x 9s, 9 x 8s and 44 x 7s.

Well it's been fun seeing how my voting and comments compared to the final results!!! I'm delighted that one of my 2 10 scorers, and my individual favourite entry, won the challenge.

I do enjoy looking at who has marked my comment helpful and who has not. I am not really fussed in most cases, since many don't bother to use that facility and that's just fine.

But I had to giggle when I came across a few where the photographer had said they found a comment of "i love this shot" useful but did not find my comment (which covered the title, theme, light and shadows and focal point) useful! He he he!

I guess it depends whether "useful" means helpful to improving or an ego boost!

Anyway, I really really enjoyed commenting and particularly enjoyed some of the discussions via PM that arose from comments I left.

:o)
