Hello, I am looking for a new camera. Because of the financing I'm looking to get one from Best Buy and toying with the idea of an SLR. I want a camera that can take photos of waterfalls like Olympic Rainforest by Zoomdak and something the capabilities to add a remote. I don't know too much about cameras and reading about the specs doesn't really mean anything to be. I just love taking photos and want to push the limits of what I can do by getting a camera that fits my artistic needs.
Any suggestions? |

If you have to finance it, I would suggest keeping the price down. Even the low end DSLR models are pretty good. You can do well with just a Rebel XS and the kit lens. Add a 55-250 IS telephoto zoom and you have most situations covered. Nikon's offering in that price range is similar and also good. Those will run about $500-550 for the single lens kit. Perhaps a touch less if you can find a good sale. If you can save up as little as $300, you can probably find a 2-4 year old used camera that will fit the need.
The biggest thing about a DSLR is that you are investing in a system. Once you have lenses and accessories, you are pretty much tied to that brand, unless you decide to repurchase everything.
