The entire strip of negatives is like that. 36 of them.

have you had others developed from the same camera elsewhere, and had good results?

jacko, film doesnt use CMOS...... it uses CCD...lol :)

If that is dust stuck to the neg, you should be able to wash it in distilled water. Soak the film, agitate gently, rinse and hang to dry in a dust free location. Also, pick up some PhotoFlo rinse agent and use that per instructions. You can also use JetDry (yes, the stuff for your dishwasher), it does basically the same thing.

All the more reason to process your own.
