| I recently got this camera, haven't had too much time to play with it. Anyone have any tips or have worked with this camera before? |

Read the manual. Get familiar with the camera. Then go and shoot. |

| What I will do is read a part of the manual then try it with the camera.I don't have a D3000, but a Nikon D50. You might want to look under equiptment(menu) and pick out the Nikon D3000, and look at everyone elses pics. You might even PM some other owners and ask ?s.I'm sure they would be glad to help. Have fun with your new adventure!!!!! |

| Just take it out and have a good time with it. Change settings, spin dials and see what happens. I have a d5000 and I'm still finding things about it that I didn't know about after several months |

| If you provided some explanation for functions you don't understand or need help with, that'd be a lot more directed. Otherwise, we'd be writing a book trying to explain all the intricacies of this and that. If you're interested in getting one, there are typically multitudes of user guides available at the bookstores that spell out things in a less technical fashion and provide practical usage tips, so that's one thing to consider, as well. |

I said to myself the same thing when I got mine, and I realized that the full manual is on the CD. |

What generally works for me is to go out and play with the camera. My eyes glaze over trying to absorb the manual in toto, so when I go play, I find that there are specific things that I want to know how to do. Then I look up those specifics as I need to know. When you reach a certain level of confusion or -frustration, you have a tendency to be more directed in your search for information, and more motivated to understand the specific explanation.
