Can anyone help me figure out who took this photo? I picked it up at a flea market the other day for $2, and noticed it was signed and numbered and of pretty good quality for an early 1980s photo. Sorry for the bad cell phone pic, but here's the photo and signature.

It has the look of a movie still, or a movie publicity shot of some kind... I am wondering if it has anything to do with "Porgy and Bess"...

I would suggest contacting a company which handles estate auctions.

You might also try searching the web with TinEye to see if you can find a version with a label or more information.

TinEye doesn't return anything, I looked a couple hours ago.

I also tried and even tried correcting the perspective... nothing

Just a wild guess... that could be Sheldon Reynolds with Lionel Ritchie on the right.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the research. I tried google goggles from several different angles and got nothing. Interesting comment about richie. I will look into that. I thought I might have stumbled onto something but I may have just found some guy that's an amateur that likes to sign and number his pics.

It's not Lionel Ritchie.

Do we think these are famous guys? If so, that could be jazz violinist Billy Bang on the left. William Parker was one of his bassists of choice, but I don't think that's him.

Maybe post it at forums.allaboutjazz.com. Gotta run. I'll check back later...

ETA: I just posted a thread over there. Let's see what happens.

That's a young Morgan Freeman on the right, when he played the bass cello for a small jazz band, but quit because he disliked the violinist (as you can tell by the way he is looking at him in that photo).

That's my guess anyway.

Ooooh... that could very well be it! Leroy Jenkins and Sirone on bass: the Revolutionary Ensemble. Heck, this might even be the same room.

DING DING DING! Tom nailed it. The exact same photo is posted here!

Well that was a bit of luck. So I think then the photographer is Larry Fink as noted on the link you provided... Seems like he is a pretty successful guy!

WOW!! Thanks so much for all the in-depth research you guys did. I never expected anyone to go that far to help me out with this. When I first got the photo (about 5 years ago) I posted on another photography board asking for help identifying it and wasn't successful back then. It has been hanging on my wall and bugging me for the past 5 years until I finally decided to give it another shot and repost here. You guys are great. Now I know who and what I've been looking at.
