Hi,
Just thought I would introduce myself to you all. I've just signed up and this seems like a great site, I think I might be here quite a lot!

I'm Mark Pritchard, 23 years old. I've just moved to Nottingham, UK to be with my girlfriend, but was born and brought up in the North East near Newcastle. I'm currently searching for a job after leaving my admin job to move.
I've always been interested in taking photos almost as long as I can remember. I take mainly landscape and seascape photos, snowscenes, sunrises and sunsets. Recently started experimenting with HDR and I'm hooked.
I joined DPC because I read good things about this place and the community on here, and I'm interested in the challenges and maybe selling too.

I look forward to getting familiar with the site and some of you, and I will take on board any comments or critique.

Regards,
Mark.

Welcome aboard. You've already told us how easily you are manipulated by women, so I should warn you to beware of the red-headed Aussie chicks. The cavemen are ok, though, and pretty cool people.

Welcome to DPC, Mark. Judi is right...it seems that you are definitely going to be a contender for ribbons here. I left you a couple of comments on some of your images.

Hi Mark - Welcome. Stick around, enjoy and be as active as you can.
I sent you a PM with some info you might like.

PS - Some other site related info - It is not a rule but kind of good etiquette to mark comments as helpful on your shots.
PPS - I had a quick look at your shots in your portfolio. Very nice but it is TOO soft for DPC tastes. You will need to sharpen your images more. There are many ways - search the forums and find a solution that works for you. I use an action made by prperold that you can download here... and here is a punt for his website //www.philipperold.com as requested for sharing his action. The action is mainly designed for landscapes but a few tweaks and you can use it on virtually any shot.

Thank you all for your welcomes and nice comments. Not sure how many challenges I will get involved with because I can't use existing photos and I'm not getting out taking photos much anymore, but i'll keep an eye on the challenges. Is there ever challenges where we can use existing photos?
Thanks again for you nice welcome and comments on my photos.
Mark.

Few and far between... There every once in a blue moon is a challenge that lets you use photos from the past, although we wont know when those will be.

Monthly challenges like the "Free Studies" lets you use any photo that you took during the month so you have time to go shoot (normally).

Enjoy your stay here a DPC and don't be shy. :)

P.s. - Look out for Art Roflmao... He is a real piece of work...

I wouldn't even consider that a once in a blue moon event. It depends on what is considered "in the past". As you stated we have the monthly Free Studies open only to site members that allow a photo taken within that month to be submitted. Other than that the only thing I can think of are the yearly "Best of 2xxx" (insert current year) challenges that occur sometime in January. That's the only challenge I know of where you can submit something taken within the last calendar years time frame (January 1st thru December 31st).
