Oh my word. Now, I just heard on national TV... that they need to ban backpacks and trashcans in certain places.

Really??

Wow.

Backpacks and trashcans did not cause this tragedy.

Evil people did.

We don't need to ban trashcans, or guns, or backpacks, or knives...

We just need to ban evil people.

Make a law.

Of course - I mean, who really NEEDS backpacks or trashcans anyway?

Looks like an over-size wino's bag.

Although, I'm not convinced that was actually the device, blast pattern isn't quite right for that location.

Runners would've been sprayed with shrapnel if that had been the device, and I don't believe they were.

Hard to say for sure.

Wow. Sick at the hurt and proud of the "run to help" attitude.

Thankful this stuff is incredibly rare in most countries but sobering to think how it is quite common in others...

I believe the older gentleman in the foreground is the same one we saw go down after the blast. You know the one we saw gracefully meld into the roadway over and over and over..... I was curious about him. I saw today that he was 78 years old and it was his 45th Boston Marathon. He was interviewed and was very thankful to be alive. I suspect google could find the interview for you. I'm far to lazy to go back for the URL. :)

Pakistan Earthquake at least 35 dead
Baghdad 42 killed in roadside bombings
Syria; Government strikes kill 25
Afghan roadside bomb kills seven

Goodness! Thank heavens you live in the USA! No disrespect in relating to the shit that is really happening around our world.

I agree, its the same thing when the media makes a big deal about a murder in suburbia- when the inner city murders, of children as well, go largely ignored or unreported.

It may not be fair, but a roadside bombing at the Boston Marathon are a bigger news story than violent bomb related death in the middle east, at least for now. Its a sad reality but in order for there to be a "tragedy"- there has to be a fall from a higher position, not situation normal, with respect to bombs and violence.

Is this surprising to you? We've become desensitize to commonplace events. whose fault is that? ours for not tolerating such violence and limiting the ability of a natural disaster to take lives or theirs for not.

What a bizarre and unnecessary comment.

Anytime someone uses a disclaimer like "No disrespect", the true meaning is exactly the opposite.

Point taken.

In the average day 124 American die in automobile accidents, 33 die of HIV, 198 die of Alaheimer's disease and 85 die of firearm injury. These we expect and have grown inured to. Hopefully we will never come to expect to die from a bombing attack. Had the bombing been at an abortion clinic and killed two or three people it would not have gotten the same reaction. This bombing of a celebratory international sporting event was intended to create a horrified reaction. Being horrified at horror is not a sign of being spoiled.

I'm hearing now an arrest has been made.
04/17/2013 02:33:38 PM · #116
I don't know if any of these are more than just outright wrongful accusation, but it's amazing to see what people have picked out.

Frankly, the two fellows wearing identical pants, and with the backpacks seem to be fairly suspicious to me, as are the two younger guys one in blue, and one in black - but hey, it's SUPER hard to know anything from just a few pics.

What I do find very interesting is that the guy in black, with the one in blue, does look to have lost his bag, and he really doesn't seem to be paying attention to the race.

That's weird. I went back to get the link and found the story changed... //abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/national_world&id=9068456

i must admit, i am fascinated by the investigation. i don't care at all about the suspect but the investigation itself is straight out of CSI.

The only difference when it comes to media coverage is what sells. Don't get me wrong we are the consumers. Well some of us. As long as we plug in they will continue to publish what sells. Does not matter the subject just if they can make a dollar off it.

Or, in the case of politicians and lobbyists, the subject is unimportant, as long as they can push their agenda with it.

It's just the reality of the world, and human nature.

Heck, even I am tempted to use this as a platform for my position that the weapon of choice is unimportant, and probably will use it as an example once we resume our normal gun ban debates.

I'm afraid that it's just something we have to expect, and accept, it's simply a part of who we are as a species.

im not a conspiracy theorist, but you have to be intrigued by this development:

The blaze is about half as credible as the National Enquirer.

Yea, but Glenn Beck is involved. Being British i don't really know much about America but i do know Glenn Beck is like the real life Jack Bauer but retitired with a radio show.
