Vaguely. Dunno, it's been so long since I entered anything anyway I thought they may have abolished those rule sets. |

Hurry, don't be late
I can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park and reminiscing

Basic doesn't make sense... I'd like to have some minimal challenges though. |

This thread is a week late, sadly.
Mike would have loved this discussion. |

Yup. Basic was really kind of stupid. It's the equivalent of bringing your photos to walmart.

yes.. I remember.. Did they not refer to that as photography back then? When you used your brains before the click of the button. The time when emotions, experiences and thinking were involved during the shooting and you truly lived the moment and tried to render it as you saw it..rather than what your memory tries to serve you when you Frakenstein it on a PC afterwards. I could ramble on..but I think in summary...when are we going to see these kind of challenges as a regular feature again and not the exception |

Ok. "Assignment" for those of us who care.
Please try to make at least one minimal friendly (and SPECIFY minimal in the title) challenge suggestion per month.
I'm going to start, now. Please support those ideas you find attractive, and take the initiative to suggest some good ones.
I think I'm ok with not bothering with basic rules, since they allow too much and too little at the same time.
My goal is to see two or more minimal challenges per month. (That's only 1 for every 7 other challenges)
To those who hate the idea: Stretch yourself, this is a GREAT way to show off just how imaginative you are, and really allows those who have worked hard on technique to reap those rewards, if you're not up to the challenge, then just enter for fun - it's easy enough to simply find something fun and enter that, everyone agrees, I'm sure, that we could always use more humor and fun around here. |

Rian, just for the record, so-called "basic" editing doesn't involve the above either. Basic is a Frankenstein ruleset, it's pointless. MINIMAL now, that's worth something :-) |

You can yes.. But not with minimal rule sets.. We are talking minimal and basic but I would love to see minimal challenges. I just dont want to shoot jpeg and raw at the same time for these challenges. Off to see the other thread of Cory |

Exposure, white balance ... all the things which are the difference between Minimal and Basic Editing ... that's why Minimal requires an original shot in JPEG, and why only the settings in effect within the camera at the moment the shutter is pressed (other than sharpening) are allowed. |
