First time I've had a hummingbird in my yard since we cut down the mulberry tree in 2009.
The best part is that I shot it from inside my breakfast nook. It's 18 degrees outside. The pathetic little furnace we have isn't keeping up, but it's still warmer inside than outside. |

The bird and the feeder. I've had all of the camera gear for at least a year, but no birds to shoot. |

| I love it! I miss my birdbath. Used to drink my coffee every morning, watching the little sparrows splash themselves. Enjoy your new toy!!! |

Anna's Hummingbird, Calypte anna, adult female. This is a year round resident of your coastal NW area. Thanks for feeding this species in December.
Rare in my Colorado, but sometimes observed. |

Yep, it's a female Anna's. Common as dirt on the west coast, but fascinating to watch regardless.
It's *very* cold here right now, and she clearly needs the food. She drank about half of the feeder by herself today. When she stops moving, she's puffed up like a little round puffball. |
