Is anyone here connecting a camera to a telescope?
I was looking around at a few telescopes and the hardware required to connect my SLR to it. I was specifically looking at the inexpensive Meade ETX-70 scope.
Any photos of your setup would be great :)

You will need a camera adapter to hook up to the telescope and a T-mount specific to the camera that hooks up to the camera adapter on one end and to the camera itself on the other. The ETX telescopes use a different camera adapter than say...my telescope, so you have to be careful which one you buy. I don't have pictures of my set up at the moment but I will upload some when I get a chance. Another thing, not every telescope's (motor) drive was meant for astrophotography and some are not powerful enough to support a heavy camera for long exposures, which will result in "trails", but the ETX models are. I hope I explained that well.

EDIT: setup pictures.

John there are TONS of adapters. I do beleive the ETX-70 does things a bit different than larger scopes. But the general idea is still the same, just different adapters.
go to Scopetronics for all your camera adapter needs.
Scopetronics
I recently got the Maxview DSLR II to use with my D60. I would recommend the 1.25" version as it is much smaller than the 2" versionI got.
go here for their T-Rings and other adapters for SLR's.
T-Rings
the one you need for your ETX is near the bottom of the page
Meade #64ST Photo Adapter (T-Adapter) for the ETX-60AT & 70AT M64ST $19.95
Now there are several ways to do this:
1. Eyepiece projection - using a T-Ring and MaxView DSLR adapter (or similar eyepiece projection adapter)
2. Prime focus - using a T-Ring and a T to 1.25" adapter so shoot through the diagonal.
3. Prime Focus - using a T-Ring and the Meade #64ST Photo Adapter (T-Adapter)
here are a few pics of my D60 and my 80mm celestron spotter scope

also you may want to give Mike Weasners Mighty ETX web site a visit, its a great resource for ETX users (and other scope users as well)
my work has blocked access to this site, but google Weasner ETX and it will come up.

I just wanted to second this. I purchased a scopetronics adapter for my Meade 70ETX and Nikon Coolpix (950,990,4500) and was very pleased with the both service and the quality of the product.

At times I wish it was the 90, but it has been a good product.
With the coolpix adapter I get magnification from the eyepiece as well as the coolpix lens. I'm not sure how much magnification you will get with a t-adapter.

Do you have some sample photos and a photo of your setup?

I don't have any with me, but I will post a couple of moon shots and a picture of the setup when I get home.

Scopetronix has a digital camera adapter wizard....it ask you a few questions and give you the adapters recommended for your camera
Digital Camera Adapter Wizard
your camera is not listed there, so shoot scopetronics an email and they will help you out, their email address can be found on their site. They are great to deal with

If anybody with a Canon G2 is interested in a MaxView eyepiece and/or adapter, send me a PM. I sold the camera G2 and no longer need the adapters (the Canon G3/G5 models are not threaded and use a different type of adapter). This was taken with the G2 and MaxView:

My husband and I just bought the etx90 yesterday, to go with my new Nikon D70, so I haven't tried it yet. We have a t-mount for the camera, and a mount for the telescope, like everyone is saying. I will let you know how it goes!
