Can someone tell me what is the best way to go as far as sofware is concerned.I heard photoshop 7, now someone is saying photoshop CS ?

Photoshop CS is an improvement on Photoshop 7. It depends what budget you are on. If your budget is low then Photoshop Elements is a good cut down version.
