This is the pic i did not go with for the challenge. How do you think it would have done and what was your runner up pics.

I like it! very original! any second thoughts?

This I love! I would have given it an 8 or 9!

I had one shot that I worked on all week, no rejects on this one.

The 1 i did go with is at a 6.222 right now but its early in the game. I liked them both soooo much it was hard to choose

Well mine is currently a 5.4 ;( It seems the harder I work on a shot, the worse it does. Of my top 5 shots only one of them isn't a last minute idea and shoot.

I seem to do better under pressure

I just played with this one...never was going to enter it, but thought it was cool anyway :)

good luck. if this was you reject, I'm sure you'll do well!

I love that picture, man! You should have entered it...I don't know which other one is yours, but that is just adorable! I can't show my runner-up because it's too close to my entry, but we'll see how it does. So far it's holding it's own! :o)

Depending on your submission, your 'reject' would've scored very high in my book.

Here were a couple of my alternates:

Nostalgia

Lucky

Waiting on the Call

Comments on these would be highly appreciated. TIA.

This one was an alternate for the Threes Competition:

Opals

Nostalgia: pick one car or the other for my tastes.

Lucky: Too much remains in color, perhaps just the rotting cushion in color, etc.

Waiting on the Call: The best of the bunch, by a fairly long way.

Forgot to post this one.

My original idea for this challenge was a photo of a marathon (in Duluth on saturday Grandma's Marathon took place, unfortunately I was sleeping during most of it, and didn't think of this idea until Sunday.) where only one runner would be in color. Preferably the 'leader'.

My second idea (the one submitted) isn't as good in my opinion, but still fairly interesting.

I liked my other photo too much, but I asked some friends and they all liked this one best.

I figured it'd be to subtle.

While your right it is extremely subtle, it works for that photo. Your attention is drawn to the nose, but only as much as it is subtle, making it very effective. Depending on your submitted photo, this one might very well be better.

I'm currently sitting at a 4.7.

No matter how well I think a photo will do, it always disappoints.

I imagine this would have done roughly the same.

And thank you.

remember it's "graded on a curve" if the winner gets 8, a 4.7 is equal to a 5.8 if the winner had received 10.

this was my place holder entry I took the photo 2 hours into the challenge and used it to practice desaturating

maybe I should have stayed with it as my entry is at 4.3 and falling
I hate cloudless days in Sydney the sky is so boring when desaturated and we have only had about 3 cloudy days in the last 6 weeks :(
isn't that a funny thing to complain about... look what DPC has done to me

Here was my second choice to enter...

Here is my other shot. Any comments appreciated.

My first comment is post clickable thumbnails to make the forum dialup friendly.

Second comment, the image that started this thread is priceless. I love the cross-eyed look.

The boat with the Swedish? flag works fairly well, however the background doesn't have much contrast. Blurring it more may work.
