wow, we're already making defensive ad campaigns about how great reality is.

I didn't see it as defensive so much as without these photographers, AI wouldn't have anything to generate . . . . so keep on keeping on because our reality (so far) exceeds AI. I was hoping they would put the same prompts in to AI and see what it generates a compare and contrast kind of thing.

AI's not fazed me one iota. It's very cool and imaginative. I love innovative progress and technology. But AI doesn't see the world like I do..... And I shoot the world I see with a Nikon.

i think that's the key right there. the only reason to do any art is to express things your way. nobody else, human or computer, is going to do that.

once you realize that, it doesn't matter if you can tell human art from AI art. you know your own art, and you make it.

their prompts are bad...
They need to get a beginners course on AI first

The campaign is a clever way for Nikon to remind people of the value of human creativity and imagination. It also taps into a growing concern about the impact of AI on the creative industries.

I imagine artists who painted portraits were upset when cameras were developed. I have no interest in using AI to create an image, but it's hard to put the genie back in the bottle.

"Don't give up on the real world." That's meaningful in every way.
