Spinning off from this, I was thinking how in Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup team golf competitions the team managers decide which of their individual team members face each other head-to-head in each round. And from this I was riffing on the idea of, instead of using average scores/percentiles we instead pitted individuals within the teams against each other?

In other words, each round would have 4 pts to be won, and each of 4 matches in that round would award a point to that match winner. Whether this would be the captains deciding ahead of time "who faces who", or whether it would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th best scores on each side facing each other...

So we could end up with rds where each side of the given match won, say, 2 pts... And cumulative points would decide the winning teams prior to the playoffs...

Just a thought...

This seems most practical, and would certainly encourage participation so as to not forfeit any points ...
