I can honestly say that at this point there is no beef. I love this thing.

It gets no respect from pros.

I got everything that I wanted in the cheeper price range, to be able to shoot through my spotting scope (i.e. 2000 to 3000mm lens), and with some quality. I do miss my Nikon film lenses, D70 someday!!!

Not enough time to use it!
I love my gear :)

My camera before the F717 was a canon A70. My biggest beef of the Sony is the image manipulation, deletion or rotation.
On the Canon, after taking a dud image, all you had to do was
1. press Delete,
2. Press set
& the image was gone.
On the sony =
1. Picture review
2. Menu
3. Find delete in the menu
4. Click on delete to activate it
5. Select Yes to confirm delete
6. Click on YES to delete

Rotating images which is only available in view mode takes 9 or more steps!

Apart from that It is pretty good.

It has only 3X zoom... not good for nice macros.. because I end up using the digital anyway to get it to 11X, and then it never looks crisp :(
Is there a cheapo way to fix the lack of zoom?

I love my camera the only thing I can say about my D70 is that kids and cameras dont mix. Had my D70 for a month or two and I just sat it down for a second to catch my neice and bam she took off running and pulled the camera down.

Other than that I love my D70 I also still am using my coolpix 4300 I carry that with me everyday, just waiting for my D70 to come back from shop.

All the features in the Nikon D70 and they left out the child proof feature.

No complaints here.

My biggest beef about mine is the shutter speeds, 2 seconds is the slowest I can get. Looks like I need a new DSLR for christmas :)

I have a D100 and I hate that it gets only a few RAW shots at a time. Then I have to wait like a minute while it records.

SO FRUSTRATING!!!

Also... no double exposures!!!

My camera weighs almost five pounds and battery life is limited to about 25 shots.

I hate the fact that the viewfinder doesn't line up *at all* with the actual shot, I have to use the LCD at all times.

I also hate the recording lag time for RAW images (6-12 seconds), but that would probably improve if I got a spiffy 40x card.

biggest disadvantage of using digital camera is the high price and the quality of camera compared to film at a same price....

The biggest beef I have with my camera is my sensor seems to collect more dust than the lint trap in my dryer.

Lack of focus points - only 3 and all in the horizontal plane.

When you turn it to do portrait shots you can't focus to the left or right - makes action shots with decent composition harder than it might be.

1.6x multipler - means that decent wide angle is almost impossible. a 17-40 ends up as a standard zoom range.

Almost half a year later, my bigger complaints would be, mostly due to changed personal usage of the camera:

Autofocus points (still), AF speed and AF accuracy
Start up delay/ wake from sleep mode delay
Buffer size (and empty time which is a pain)
Lack of orientation sensor, particularly for JPEGs
Crop size, though it is still good for telephoto

Otherwise, it is still a great camera.

She's so sensitive ... and what am I, a mind reader? If you want to hold my hand in the mall just grab it.

... oh wait, did you say camera or girlfriend?

LOL...
I can relate to that!
... And if you had wanted me to give you a cuddle in front of them/her, then why didn't you tell me!

My "Auto Ribbon Selection" feature hasn't ever worked properly!

That doesn't work without a sholder strap!

my biggest beef is that i now have NAS (Nikon Acquisition Syndrome) and i can't afford this disease :)

The things I don't like in my Minolta:
1) sometimes too noisy (however, using ISO 100 often fixes the problem)
2) slooow autofocus: the image is getting blured too often
3) 'd like to take IR shots... :(
4) battery life is too short. Sometimes i envy good li-ion accumulator camera owners, like Sony of Canon, although in some occasions taking some ni-mh packs is a preferrable option.

too much noise in higher ISO... :(

Not fast enough! ;) LOL

Joking! So far I haven't found anything to dislike about my camera.
