What do you think of this self portrait?

I like the lighting and B&W tone, but I think it would have been better without your hand on the side of your face. Either have no hand, or maybe put it under your chin.

I agree with Chris

I think it would be a lot better to have your hand down under your chin so it is less distracting. But otherwise very nice.

I agree with cbeller, unless maybe if it was on the side with the shadow so we can see more of your face. Like the serious mood captured.

High contrast lighting works fine. Lose the distracting background, lose the fringe halo going around your head and shoulders (it just looks like a poor selection job), and relax the pose- it just seems too stiff and precalculated.

If you have to have your hand there in that position, raise the light and angle it further downward.

I like the hand...just maybe reposition your light source so the shadow the hand creates isn't so harsh on your face. I think it's the shadow that's distracting since it takes over the entire lower half of your face: not the hand itself.

I do like it alot, but :-) seeing only part of the arm and the hand really bugs me. Maybe don't crop so tight. Like let us see more of your arm. To me the arm and hand looks like it is coming from nowhere, like it doesn't belong.

I do however like you choice of lighting and the look.
