Hi all,
I'd like to generate thumbnails and resize images on my website. I think ImageMagick can do that. How do you install ImageMagick on your website? How to run it from PHP?
Thanks!! |

is your website hosted by someone else, or is it local? if hosted by someone else, they may be able to install it for you, otherwise you may have to make sure you have permission to install it.
are you familiar with php? imagemagick can be run entirely from the commandline so if you know how to do that in php, you just need to read the documentation for the parameters and such. |

Hi,
My website is hosted by someone else and I'm intermediate with PHP. Maybe that's really dumb but is it possible to just copy files in a directory on my website and execute ImageMagick fron this location?

You did take a look at the ImageMagick website right? They have examples to help you through this sort of thing.

are they windows based servers or linus? can you ssh into the servers? have you asked if they already have imagemagick installed? have you checked the host's webpage for instructions on imagemagick? it's a fairly common program and a lot of hosts either have it installed already, or else they have instructions on how to do it specific to their servers.
//www.imagemagick.org/www/Install-unix.html
here are some general instructions

Yes imagemagick can do it. Why not consider using GD library? GD2 comes bundled with PHP now. It's pretty good for resampling. |
