I'm happy with either one, actually. If I had a choice, I'd say Venice just because I want to practice my people-picture-taking-skills.

You all need to head south to the beaches of Orange and San Diego counties. The city shots are in LA, but the ocean (vs. beach) shots are in OC and SD counties. Go to Laguna Canyon, and the cliffs in Laguna, also.
(From a person who came of age there)

I'd also like to head north one day towards Santa Barbara or Morro Bay. But we're trying to keep it in LA as much as possible but one could contend that OC is part of "LA" in a sense. I've never seen the cliffs of Laguna and I might take a trip down there one day myself.

Anything south of Fresno is considered LA up here with the No Cal folks. Seriously, also look at the South Bay region (Hermosa, Redondo and Manhatten beaches). You need 4 weeks, I guess. LOL Newport has the yaught set, Laguna the rocky cliffs and reefs, and Doheny has the palms-meet-the-beach. Enjoy!

I grew up in Venice Beach and am very familiar with the South Bay. Indeed there are a lot of photo opportunities there. MrAkamai lives in the South Bay and I̢۪m sure he would agree. Are you familiar with Petaluma? It̢۪s north of San Francisco about 50 miles. I lived I there for 4 years when I was younger. I would like to take a trip there and shoot Downtown Petaluma and D Street. I love that area!

First, my apologies for not looking up the details of everyone's whereabouts; when I am on dial-up, it tkaes forever! So, of cource, Mr. Akamai knows his stuff there! Sorry.
Second, yes, I got to know Petaluma about 18 years ago when I was living in the Bay area (I have moved a lot!). It is a great place; so much of that area of No Cal is. It is so hard to get around these days, though, traffic and all. Look me up if you decide to go up that way!!

I drive through the beach cities quite often and I wanted to go out shooting today but, stupid me, I think I left my card reader with my microdrive inside it at work. It's not in the car or anywhere else. I guess it's a good thing that today is overcast and very much June gloom-ish.
BTW, I usually forget to check others' profiles, too, so no worries Kylie! :)

I am sad I missed downtown. I live there, but never get to go out and photograph it! I'd be up for Venice Beach or even go south to Huntington or Redondo. I don't want to drive toooooo far though. I really would like to stay in LA county for now, and visit Laguna sometime in the future. I've been before. I will go back someday. It's very nice!
So, which beach do you want to go to next Sunday? What time? Where should we meet? |

I started a new thread for this upcoming weekend so let's start posting there instead and keep this one for my pictures. :)
Thanks!
