First off, I would like to say I love this site and have learned a lot.
I have spent several months reading old threads and now it's time I jump in.

Here's my question. I will be going to an event soon to document a 4-day family reunion/vacation. This is not an average event. While I am there I will have an opportunity to take many great (hopefully) photos. I will have about 3-4 hours a day to myself to do whatever I want. This is a very large event, very public. At the main site of the event it is prohibited to buy, sell, or give away any goods or services in the public right of way, meaning streets, sidewalks, parks. Can I still take pictures for the express purpose of selling them and sell them later? I would be taking pictures of people, for those people.

I know this might be a little confusing but any insight on this matter would be appreciated.

business cards to pass out might come in handy. Either that or make people sign a model release and contact them using their information after the event.

Welcome to dpc pebbles2. If you are a member of the family that is reuniting, or at least have some connection to them, I would just go ahead and take the pictures as I liked until someone tells me otherwise. If someone objects try to negoitiate terms that will let you continue while accomodating the objections, maybe restrict your picture taking to certain areas or times. Good Luck.

I agree. just get on your printer and do just text-only cards. plain paper's gonna be fine. just name, phone number, email.

I suppose you can say that you're not providing any service to people at this time - you are merely takig photo's for yourself. if people want to contact you at a later date for you to provide that service...?

or you could just approach the organiser of the event and ask if there is already someone providing this service? if not, then offer your service directly to the organiser.
