I'm off to see Joe Satriani and Steve Vai tonight and was after a couple of tips and setting suggestions for my Fuji s7000. I'm a bit of a newcomer and have not had a lot of time to mess with the camera. Would a fast exposure be better to 'freeze' the play????

Cheers

i think the stage lighting will determine the best settings. i would recommend not using the flash because you'll lose the mood of the concert.

i took these many years ago with a Pentax 35mm SLR and i think my settings were probably around f/11 and 1/30 sec....handheld with an 80-200mm zoom. 70's and 80's Concerts

these i took last year with my Fuji and the settings were f/2.8 and 1/30 to 1/60 sec. Cowboy Mouth

i like the look of some motion in concert photos because it really gives you a feel for the show. just my opinion, though.

should be a great concert! is Eric Johnson going to be there, too?

oh yeah...one more thing...make sure they allow you to take photos or make sure you hide it well...lol. i'd hate to see you lose your camera or your media card.

have fun!

Bob Fripp is playing with Vai and Satriani? At the same time or separately? I'm not sure I believe this ... (trying to re-seat brain).

You'll be hard pressed to get any good shots of him though :-) Last ime I worked with him he had a full surround perspex cage and no lights on him ... he may have given up on that these days though ...

Take me there! I don't care even if you take my eyes out and tie me to the biggest box there!
