You can get Topaz for mac........... There is even a 30 day free trial.

Sorry, was in a bad mood last night. Regardless, it only works on Intel processors, so on a Power PC I'm still out of luck.

We found that out recently when we tried to put topaz on Cowtownmom's G4 Mac Mini. So now she shuffles her pics between her computer an my Windoze machine when she wants to use any plugins. I've got a pile of parts growing on the floor to start building her a new Win7 computer. It's not the new Mac she would really prefer, but it's also something I can afford now.

Yeah, my buddy might start constructing me a machine just for editing. Like you he's got wires coming out his ears and was super excited when I brought it up. Kind of cool, even for me. I need a box that can edit photos lightning quick and can handle all this finicky software. Just an OS and photo-related software. And a browser. But of course I still have to scrape up some change to make it happen.

But I can relate to Cowtownmom. I've got a G4 powerbook that runs like a charm so I'm sticking with it.

Ok, you Topazez ( :p ), WHICH Topaz are you speaking of? There are a bunch of 'em. (And I'm on Mac, too.) I have Topaz DeNoise, muahaha, but I know that "ain't the one". Adjust or something else?
11/06/2010 10:35:34 PM · #35
I have adjust, detail & denoise.
11/06/2010 11:06:01 PM · #36
oh my I have them all I think. Denoise, Detail, Adjust, Simplify, Clean, Remask, Dejpeg.

I just finished some portraits today using Denoise, Detail, and a soft light layer of Topaz Clean to soften the skin. It's something new I tried today and I had a 50% success rate on the prints. Looks great on the young kids but I still have some tweaking to do on the more seasoned folk.

I think we can use any Topaz we happen to have. I have adjust and detail.

It's a long buildup :-) 3 weeks and counting, start in December. There's a 2-week "anything goes" side challenge being started up by sjhuls if you wanna get warmed up :-) "Anything Goes" 1/2 month side challenge

When people grumble about Topaz, it's usually squawking about people on the base of the learning curve who get a little heavy-handed.

You forgot me, Barbara.......8~(

I'll join if there is still room.

I'm looking forward to this starting. Can we use pics we already have? (Please!)

Which modules of Topaz do you use regularly? In what ways?

Me I only use Topaz-Adjust,mostly the Photo-Pop option, but not very often.

Is the idea to use Topaz products exclusively or just somewhere along the line? I think I'm interested regardless of what the answer is, but was just curious.

Absolutely! I sometimes use Topaz as a tool to "rescue" old photos that just missed the mark. All photos are welcome, new and old.
