What would you do with it?

Say whatever you want on cars, mortgage, charity etc., but I am particularly interesting on how that would affect your photography life.
Would you get that camera and those lenses that you have always wanted?
Quit your day job, and become a freelance photographer? Make a studio? etc.

I for one would be very tempted to give up being a teacher and try to make some money with photography, especially since it wouldn't have to be very secure income since I all of a sudden would have a lot of money saved up.

What would you do?

Go for my cancer operation on Monday :_( in stead of having to wait until January 24th.
This second one is growing very aggressively, doubling in size about every 6 weeks. I have to wait for the government, just hoping my operation does not take the form of an autopsy. Then travel Asia and take photos.

I would give it all away to people who deserve it.

1M is not what is used to be..... and with a young family, I'm NOT going to be able to travel the world.

* It would give me the option to throw in this crappy well paying job for something more interesting.
* Would do a couple of trips to Africa, Iceland e.t..... Effectively making the family vacation better then local/interstate.

DocPJV - Hope it works out for you....

Quit my job, buy a large house with a built in studio decked out and lots of camera equipment. Oh and this would all be in Florida near a beach.

Wow good question.
1. Payoff my mothers debts.
2. Payoff my family debts.
3. Tithe and charity.
4. Payback people at DPC that has help my family and I.
5. Help others that are in need. I can relate and it would be a blessing to be able to help others for a change.
6. We have been renters all of our married life; a house would be nice...just a modest home.
7. Oh and a car since we don't have one. :)

Money is all fine & dandy, but some things really put it into perspective. Good luck to you, PJ.

"Deserve" is an interesting choice of words.

You didn't say "needed" it. You didn't say "put it to good use." but rather "deserved" it.

An Olympic athlete deserves recognition for a gold medle performance. A worker deserves to be paid for the job he agreed to do. A murder deserves his punishment under the law.

"Deserves" implies they have done something that has earned them the right to receive it. I am truely curious what criteria you would use to determine who "deserved" to receive some fraction of a million out of the blue from some total stranger.

Maybe "deserve" was a casual symantic choice. Maybe I think too much.

I'd take off work for two years to finish school instead of going part time for the next 8.

put the rest in the bank and let the wife quit her job to stay home with the kids.

Kids. It would all go to kids and helping them cope with their adult given problems.

All kids deserve it.
