I just found this site and am a bit lost as to where to go or what to do! :) I am sure I will figure it out though... I hope!

Don't worry. Just tread water for a minute and all sorts of helpful advice will come your way, especially about what types of pictures to take, which to avoid, and which members to NEVER listen to... Consider this your warning about the local sharks :-)

It's easy to find. Just look on the main page for "Challenges Open for Submission"

This is not uncommon when someone first arrives here, however the gradual removal of your brain cells will soon bring you into line with our thought processes and you will be assimilated into DPC as yet another newbie to give lifeblood to the oldies here. The insane ones get to make wise cracks, but the oldies rule:)

Yep! and asking questions, perhaps answering some? Or just taking photos and entering challenges.

You have 6 hours remaining in this weeks (pick one) open challenges, which are the only kind you can enter unless you register($).
So make a John Lennon song title or a window shopping image and size it to 800pixels max and 300kb or less and enter away!
If you live near walrus's its a easy challenge! The current Challenges are listed on the bottom of the home page.
Tomorrow there will be 2 new open challenges to choose from. Make us swoon! Success!

Thanks for the help! So any John Lennon song title? Is there a place I can view current enteries to try and wrap my brain around that?

Nope, you can't view challenge entries until their in the voting stage. It's John lennon 'lyrics' as well by the way so that gives you some more options than just song titles. :)
