Hi! I'm new here and found you guys due to the whole 'photo laure...something' and 'boulevard of photographers' scam thing. I too submitted a photo, was chosen and offered a book. I did not buy it (though I really almost did). Anyway, you guys seemed nice so I thought I'd try here and maybe gets so tips!

My name is Heather and I'm a 22 year old college kid who's getting married in April. I live alone with only my pup Jack for company. :P I'm a little pathetic and geeky. I hope to be a contributing member to your society^_^

I'm from Eastern Kentucky. I've lived here all my life. :P

And I wouldn't say I got scammed as I didn't buy anything. Just disappointed. I'll post things on here soon hopefully. If any of you guys are deviants I'm there too :P

more or less yes. :) you can enter your best image of the month or the one you like best. and make sure you took it in this month. :) i should be entering something so I look forward to seeing which one is yours, if you choose to do so.

Do be careful to read the editing rules, we've seen more than one tragedy there with new users..

You'll find that's a big part of the challenge around here, you've got to shoot after the challenge is announced, and before it ends, (obviously)...

This also means you should check your date and time on your camera to ensure it's correct..

Not all of them are by month though right? Like do you have 'flowers' or 'animals' or 'landscapes' those kinds of things?

Most are weekly challenges, and yeah the challenges vary weekly. Although registered users can only participate in the weekly exclusive challenges.

We have a variety of subjects, but you'll always need to shoot the images after the announcement of the challenge. That's part of why it's so very difficult to win around here, you've got to have the timing right!

Oh, you can get critiqued just by posting 'em up in a thread. If you pay for a membership, you get a portfolio you can populate. If you don't pay, you have to link to your outside host and it's harder for us to leave comments.

As Bear said, post them up, we'd love to see them and give you critiques..

Awesome! I'm really wanting to get into photography as more than just an occasional hobby. I am just starting so I'm not expecting great reviews but tasteful critique helps make someone better, right?

that'll most likely be near the beginning of january
