Ach! If you're getting old, where does that me? If the age shown in your profile is correct I'm nearly 10 years older than you. Come August, I'll be 37. Fortunately, because of good skin and a certain kind of youthful quality to my features, my true age doesn't show. YET.
Just a couple of days ago I was walking down the street with my 14 year-old daughter and a women who had just been arguing with her daughter stopped and asked us, "Do you give your mothers a hard time like this?"
It took a few paces before I realized why her question sounded odd to me. Then I realized she had said mothers as if I was just another irritating adolescent in her path. My daughter got a big kick out of it. She put on her best Valley Girl voice and asked me, "So Becky, you wanna go to the mall?" As we got in the car she gushed, "You're so lucky to have a car! My mother won't even buy me a new computer."
So, looking old isn't something I can whine about yet, thanks to good genes. Also, I have the speaking voice of a 10 year-old boy. Seriously. Before my son's voice changed, he used to get mistaken for me on the phone by people who know me well---my husband and my mother, for example. LOL!
I really like the second photo, although I can't really tell you bite your nails from it, it's a fun portrait. I'm not as crazy about the other one, mainly because of the selective desaturation. I rarely, if ever, like the effect this gives a portrait.
I think your idea is a funny concept but also a good way to get realistic about oneself. I like personal photo essays in the form of self-portraits, be they serious or whimsical. Cindy Sherman makes wonderful self-portraits. You are a gorgeous woman so you have a terrific model on hand whenever you need it. |

I suppose when I'm 28 I'll feel old, but right now I would hardly consider that old at all. Beautiful pictures though, and a brilliant idea.

let's not talk about being old, shall we? i'll be 44 on the 15th and i'm feeling every year and then some. ;-) my face has plenty of texture but i'm lucky that most of them are "laugh lines" and i keep the stockholders of Clairol (hair color) quite happy (if i don't dye my hair i get a kind of Pepe LePew look...not attractive...trust me...lol).
you are beautiful and talented, heida. don't get too blue about your changing looks or you'll miss all the fun that growing older can bring. :-)

Actually, I think I'm quite looking forward to 50. It's a few years down the road, but I figure by then I'll be that much wiser, and have more time and more money available. My olderst daughter will be well out on her own, my youngest will be more independent and my hubby and I will be healthier (been too busy to think about it much before now.)
And just imagine how the digital cameras will have improved even more in 7 years! |

First of all, I like the idea and best of luck with the project. I was just wondering though, why 'getting old' is there when it's about 'faults'. |

Hmm it is good to know that no one is perfect and everyone has his/her faults.
Even Heiða is eating her fingernails and getting old. Just as I am. Well I think we can do nothing against getting old (on the outside of the body) but it's perhaps possible stop eating the fingernails but I'm not sure. |
