For about the same price, would you buy a 2GB Microdrive or a 1GB CompactFlash Card?

To me the speed would be the driving factor. I understand that the microdives are not as fast as CFs.

| I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but I would (and have) bought a 1Gig CF for small to medium sessions and a 4Gb microdrive for when I want to go on a longer shoot |

How do you find the speed of your 4Gb microdrive?

given the difference in writing speed between microdrives and flash card, if money weren't a concern, i'd get the flash card.

CF for me, too.
The microdrives have had problems if they were dropped, for example, and the impact damaging the precision moving parts inside. In fact I have both ... an older 380 M microdrive ... and a 2 G Compact Flash. Both have worked fine. Besides reliability, I like the faster write speeds of the CF. |

I use a CF card, and then dump the pics to a 20gb x-drive. That way I get the best of both worlds, lots of memory capacity, along with the speed and reliability of the CF card.

| CF cards are faster and more reliable (no moving parts), some microdrives have a tendancy to fail. i use cf cards and a 1 gb microdrive for backup if i run out of space. |
