Alrighty... who's interested in a "straight from the camera" challenge?

No need to register, just start posting. The rules:

You may - Convert from RAW format; Resize to DPC friendly dimensions; use any original photo regardless of when it was taken.
You may not - Do anything else, not even in-camera.

Basically a free study minimal (zero) editing challenge. The idea is to get feedback and critique on your skill at setting up and taking the shot :)

Like this one, except RAW allowed? I bet it'd have to be RAW with the default settings only then...

Either way, I like it. Has there really only been one of these so far?

There have been several minimal editing challenges. I believe dmsmith is suggesting a side challenge.

Good idea. Would love to join, time and photo energy permitting.

Allowing RAW is allowing quite a lot since most editing can be done in the RAW converter.

Yeah, similar to this sidechallenge last September.

I figure allow the RAW conversion to allow people to use previously taken photo's where there wasn't a jpg generated in the first instance.

When it comes to the RAW conversion process it's just a matter of trusting that the spirit of the side challenge is followed and no automatic processing is applied. The honour system :) There are no points or ribbons up for grabs...

Will post a shot when I get home this evening.

Even Minimal Editing allows sharpening after resizing.

Resized only, no crop, no sharpening, no nothing.

Absolutely no editing (even let FB auto-resize!! gasp!), all comments are most welcome.

Really nice colour and DoF, lovely shot. I feel that the tulip seems a little lonely though... or there's too much background. One or the other.

Wow, some beautiful shots in there. Many with great framing, DoF, subject etc. I really really like the shot of your new bike, I would have to nominate that as my favourite in there.

Just re-sized. Over exposed unfortunately, but I'm otherwise fairly happy with the action shot.

Action shots are so tough to get right "in camera".

Yours is pretty good overall, but I have three thoughts about it (and I didn't find it particularly overexposed, I think the exposure is about right actually).

1. Soft - Could just be this shot, could be due to lens choice (I don't know what lenses you own, they're not on your profile!).

2. Framing - you either zoomed in too much, or you chopped off the horses feet and tail.

3. Horizon - hardest thing about action shots, watching that horizon! Yours isn't too bad, but it's absolutely off level. (one of my biggest "things" about straight from the camera work, make sure that horizon is level (or so damn tilted it's obvious you wanted it that way. :) ) )

Thanks for the comments Cory & Derek, appreciate it.

It is zoomed in a fraction too much. You know, I hadn't even really consciously taken note of the slightly off level horizon but I can't stop seeing it now :) Certainly something I'll be very careful about when cropping shots in the future.

As others mentioned, great lines and shapes. And the shadow is intriguing. Every time I look at the shot I keep expecting the graffiti to say "Killroy was here".

Pretty happy with the composition on this one, and the colours and mild reflection.
