I was actually gonna make (and nearly had done) an app that would control your camera from your android phone (helpful for hdr/time lapse/long exposure etc), but unfortunately Android phones (unless heavily hacked) won't support USB host mode which is required :/
If a hack is there I'll be making this app!

I've also just found out that all Android screenshot apps seem to require a rooted phone. I suppose allowing a screenshot function to operate unimpeded could be considered a security problem.

My droid is rooted so I'll test anything you have.

Naw. It requires a lot more than a rooted phone. It requires you to literally hack the kernel to change how the phone acts towards the USB in general. USB host means that were you to plug a memory stick or hard drive or something into a phone it'd open it up as a removable device and you could access its files.
It'd be awesome, eh?

Typically, your camera hooked up to your computer - the computer would be the host.
Phones tend to hook up to a computer, and the computer is the host.
He's saying that the camera would hook up to the phone and the phone would be the host.
I'm pretty sure a rooted phone could/would act as a host, but not sure many people would root their phones, just to use it as a camera remote.

Mine too, I got all hacky on my Backflip... rooted and running Froyo, contrary to Motorola trying to force me to stay with Cupcake.

Could is the more accurate descriptor. It requires some serious hacking though.
The galaxy s II can do it, so maybe it'd be worth writing the app just in case...

Get the right capacitors and you may get a few shocks to the charge.

Just a thought and bare with me as some of this is over my head, lol...but
My Droid 2 can work as a wifi hotspot.
Plugging in the USB, I have choices on how the phone acts with regard to the USB...and I have 4 choices:
PC Mode
Windows Media Sync
USB Mass Storage
Charge only
Does this help at all????
I'll shut up now! : }
I, too, would be interested in a taser app!! (Maybe tie it into the flashlight app??)

BTW, if you're following Google's I/O keynote, you'll notice that they appear to be adding a USB host mode to Android 3.1, and an accessories API for 2.4.3 and 3.1, so Android->camera control might be possible very soon.

Ohhh. But is that for tablets only? Or for phones too? If both... I'm on it!

:D
Definitely will!
I really hope it works on the Galaxy S...
Dammit--another hit to my real work productivity!
From your link: "12:15PM Ice Cream Sandwich is Google's "most ambitious" release to date, and the key word here is "choice." This new OS will power tablets, convertible laptops, phones, etc."
Definitely gonna work on this!

All the codenames are desserts and are released in alphabetical order. Current stable release of Android is 2.3 or Gingerbread. 3.0 or Honeycomb is a tablet based release.
"It's kind of like an internal team thing, and we prefer to be a little bit -- how should I say -- a bit inscrutable in the matter, I'll say," said Randall Sarafa, a Google spokesman. "The obvious thing is that, yeah, the Android platform releases, they go by dessert names and by alphabetical order for the most part."

It gives more options for naming new versions than almost anything else ... for instance, Apple is going to start running out of felines pretty soon -- I'm not sure why they didn't use apple varieties.
Also the subliminal association with sugar probably triggers the release of positive neurotransmitters in the "reward" centers and maximize the possiblity of a positive response.

I put a shot in the Gold challenge just so I could see this app in action. That's probably a recipe for a brown ribbon eh? |

Therr was a feature before whereby your scores got higher on first use. That's what's currently happening with mine I think. Point of view is the first challenge I'm using it in! And I likes it! :)

I'm still having issues having the arrows show up without having to turn them off and on before any refresh. I'm missing out on a lot of red arrows right now! |

I'll look into it. I forgot about it earlier when you told me actually.
There'll probably be an update tonight.

I saw this and installed. I don't have an entry, so I cannot really try it.
That person in Sri Lanka is me! |
